Nowhere to hide

So much for... "that sort of thing doesn't happen in my neighbourhood"...
Residents on a quiet High Park-area street lined with yellow maple leaves were fearful yesterday as they talked about the gunshots that rang out in their neighbourhood the previous evening.

Neighbours too frightened to give their names said crime doesn't normally happen in their peaceful enclave -- a neighbourhood where people measure home ownership by decades.

"My husband thought he heard eight shots," said a woman, who added she saw a car go "ripping up backwards" the length of Elora to Clendenan Ave., while a black SUV with chrome wheels and tinted windows fled along a neighbouring street.
Meanwhile, strangely enough... Mayor Miller's office was once again unable to say which Toronto area gun club the shooters belonged to.
