Apparently... we do "stand on guard"
"I find myself in a unique position in comparison to most of my fellow army commanders across NATO," Lt.-Gen. Leslie said. "I have more volunteers every tour than I have positions."Well... except, of course, in Windsor.
"To come to Afghanistan is a competitive process."
"We've taken a stance since Day 1 at Local 444 that we would not support the war in Afghanistan," local president Rick Laporte told CBC News. "We think we're a peacekeeping force more than a combative force."*

This is why even union members hate unions. You gotta join to get the job, just to see parastitic socialists use your dues to advocate political views you detest.
OT, but is anyone following the story that Khdar will be put on trial in the US, along with a few other gitmo bad guys. A new charge has been laid against him, making roadside bombs.
And, it is up to the elected government of Canada to make the decision on if he should come back to Canada, not the courts.
Canada agrees, he should stand trial in the US.
Damn, this burns. I hate unions, as they have stopped representing their workers, and instead assume they are important political organizations. Here is my letter to that scumbag Rick Laporte:
Dear Mr. Laporte,
How dare you and your local take out such an egregious ad. Talk about a kick in the face to all Canadian Soldiers, past and present. Myself included.
Peacekeepers? Please, only in some moonbat left wing nutjob's wildest dreams does "peacekeeping" work (insert Liberal Party and NDP for their umbrella groups, and seditious little monsters like CAW executives). No Canadian Soldier with his salt supports peacekeeping. It doesn't work, and only needlessly risks Canadian lives. All the while the soldiers stand back, powerless to stop the atrocities going on around thme.
Afghanistan is a true liberation struggle. We went there in response to a real threat posed by a medieval religio-political greoup, and thrust them from power. While there we have been helping to train their police and military so that Afghans never have to be subjected to the terror, oppression and abuse heaped on them by the Taliban.
Yes, some of our men have paid the ultimate price. However, if you had ever bothered to get to know some soldiers, you would know they go willingly, aware of the risks. Only cads and cowards like you and your ilk on the "New Left" are too spineless to stand up and support the men and women who have gone to the aid of the defenceless.
You disgust me, you little gutless pig. And, because of your Union's stance on these matters I will NEVER buy a car manufactured by a company whose workers are represented by CAW.
However, if i saw you set upon by thugs in the street, I would still try to save you. You, I suspect, would cower and dial 911.
Get some spine, and some respect, you classless little man.
I made a decision a long time ago to never by a vehicle built by CAW members because I don't want to support unions.
How do I send CAW 444 a message that I will not purchase a vehicle built in Windsor for just this reason?

"anon asks... How do I send CAW 444 a message"

Good question
What vehicles are made by this local?
The smart buyer wants to know what to avoid.
Did I need another reason not to buy a Chrysler? Thanks Rick. Keep up the good work.I'm sure your members appreciate you alienating more customers.
Hey Liberal supporter...
I'm in the Canadian Armed Forces! We already know what you think of us so piss off!
LS, I work out of my home so boycott all you want but you can't boycott what I do. If you do, the CRS will be after you big time.
