ARE YOU ENJOYING JUSTIN'S 'POST NATIONAL' STATE?

-- "In hindsight, the Conservative's 2015 Anti-Terrorism Act seems almost tailor-made to combat Canada’s sudden new reality of having explicitly pro-terror rallies regularly hitting the streets of its major cities. The Liberal amendment changed 'promoting terrorist offences' to 'counseling terrorism offenses' – which effectively put the law right back where it had been prior to C-51." --

Harper successfully led Canada through the worst recession since the Great Depression, emerging in better shape than almost any other developed country.

Since then, he has successfully balanced the federal budget and positioned Canada for modest surpluses for the next four years.

There are two serious issues facing Canada right now: Ongoing economic uncertainty, and an increasingly unstable situation in the Middle East. In the face of the worst economic downturn in a generation, Harper has made sure that Canada remains on secure economic footing, something both his opponents’ plans put at risk.

When it comes to confronting ISIL and the threat of global terror more generally, only the Conservatives are prepared to treat the matter with the strength of conviction it deserves.

Today’s busy voter deserves to know just how much their potential future prime minister is lacking in credentials.

In terms of career experience, all the 43-year-old’s chalked up is a couple years as a teacher in British Columbia. After that, he entered an engineering program but soon dropped out, then started another MA program but dropped that too. He became an MP shortly after, in 2008.

In other words, Justin Trudeau spent the years before entering politics dabbling in this and that, drifting about without any commitment to work or school.

Somewhere, an unassuming grad student...

...must be polishing their thesis on "Harper Derangement Syndrome"...
You think the prime minister has been slow to act on climate change? You object to his preference for tax restraint over big new spending programs? He’s too pro-Israel, too anti-Putin? You don’t like his voice, face, or haircut?

Vote against him!

But remember at the same time that Canada has posted the best economic record of any G7 country through the worst global economic crisis since the 1930s: more jobs, faster growth, and lower public-sector debt.

To dismiss this record as creeping authoritarianism, and to cite as proof that press conferences are less rowdy than they used to be, is to reveal an appetite for grievance so ravenous that it will swallow anything and pronounce it a meal.
Bravo, Mr Frum.

Of course not.get out of jail free card
"The Harper government introduced a bill, which passed first reading before Parliament recessed for the summer, to abolish the possibility of parole for certain heinous crimes, including killings of police or prison guards or murders committed during kidnappings, sex assaults or terrorism."
There's only one federal political party that believes in keeping P.O.S. Paul Bernardo and his equally horrific criminal confreres off our streets forever.

Conservative MP John Williamson's Bill C-518, which would strip MPs and senators of their pensions if they were convicted of certain crimes, was sent back to the House with amendments — after the Commons had already adjourned for the summer.

Bill C-518 faces little hope of being reinstated and is effectively dead.
You get the government you deserve.

The government has begun invalidating the passports of Canadians who have left to join extremist groups in Syria and Iraq, Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander revealed in an interview on Friday.

"I watched the press conference on CBC. A reporter asked Kenney if he had assurances that "Triple M" would be treated well in Lebanon."

"Man, I love progressive 'useful dhimmies'."
The CBC sucks up 1.3 billion taxpayer dollars every year to peddle their compassionate, intellectual brand of socialism. That should be the Conservatives next issue.

Another reason to vote Conservative

The Harper government is throwing its weight behind a private members' bill that would give police the power to arrest anyone hiding their identity during a riot or unlawful assembly.

Justice Minister Rob Nicholson announced Sunday that the Conservative majority formally supports the legislation, meaning it is all but assured of becoming law.

"Destructive and reckless behaviour damages communities and should not be tolerated," Nicholson said in a release.

Funny how, if you're a "professional" journalist and it involves Stephen Harper... events inevitably have that sharp, merciless, bloody edge...

Good grief... seems those evil, controlling Conservatives are always perpetuating (if only figuratively) violence on the hapless, well-meaning Opposition...
"a storyline that sticks helped the Conservatives sink two successive Liberal leaders... Critics and stakeholders were left struggling".
Yes, my children... if only we still had the soothing touch of a wise, compassionate Laytonesque healer to soothe our fevered collective brow.

I've gotta ask... do these folks ever listen to themselves? They apparently just don't know when to turn down the volume. No wonder the print media is going down the shitter.

Bring it, you dumb bunnies. It's why, in no small part... we have a Conservative majority government.

Forget about bilingual...

...perhaps future Prime Ministers of Canada should have a mandatory degree in economics...
With a certain amount of sullen resentment, Canada's premiers agreed Tuesday to do pretty much exactly what Prime Minister Harper wants them to do: Continue working on innovation in health care to drive costs down, or at least, keep the rate of growth from rising.

But they made it clear they're still unhappy at the prospect of being forced on the cost-saving front.

They set up another working group to keep the argument going over the new funding arrangement, and how it was imposed.
Of course they did.

On the other side of the fence we have that "unresponsive", hard-hearted ogre... Stephen Harper.

After all, it was just that single "offence"... you know... executing a major arms purchase for a violent terrorist group.

I mean, c'mon... it could happen to any one of us... right?

Wrong.

These men had access to every advantage this country had to offer, including post-secondary education and a bright, shining future... but they tossed that aside to deal guns & explosives...

-- OTTAWA -- Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is set to announce Monday that Canada is boycotting the United Nations Conference on Disarmament over North Korea’s involvement, a senior government source told Postmedia News.

“The fact that it gets a turn chairing a United Nations committee focused on disarmament is unacceptable,” Baird said in a statement last week.

“We call on North Korea to pass the chair on to a credible country that will advance the disarmament agenda within the UN.”
Quite a refreshing change from the "business as usual" crowd...
Baird’s Monday announcement comes in contrast to the warm words Canada’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva had for his North Korean counterpart after his appointment last week.
