Don't you worry, though... he's only an "alleged" gangbanger. I guess that means he won't be in the Ignatieff-approved long gun registry.

A man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder today in the shooting death of 15-year-old Jane Creba on a downtown Toronto street crowded with Boxing Day shoppers four years ago.

Jeremiah Valentine, 27, was charged after a gunfight erupted on Yonge Street on Dec. 26, 2005.

Mr. Valentine instead chose to avoid trial by entering a guilty plea before Mr. Justice John McMahon of the Ontario Superior Court.

Until now, Valentine's notorious past had been under wraps while he faced the murder charge. But with his guilty plea, the Star can reveal Valentine had a criminal record of 10 adult convictions for firearms, drug offences and numerous failures to comply with court orders.

On Sept. 19, 2005, the day he was arrested on cocaine charges, Valentine told detectives he was fed up with the gangster life. He said he was tired of watching friends kill friends.

Despite past refusals to break the "code of the street" against snitching, he was willing to talk about the secret world of the Driftwood Crips and his own related crew, the Killer Crips, in the Jane St. and Finch Ave. W. area.

Of course, there was no actual remorse... this thug just wanted a "get out of jail free" card.
