Tonight's CTV Moonbat Moment
Tonight, on CTV's Ottawa affiliate CJOH... professional propagandists Jane Taber & Bob Fife did everything but drop to their knees and cry as they "reported" on the swearing-in of the new Governor General.
The fact is, though... they were way more enthusiastic about the past than the present.
Fife made the obligatory fawning references to outgoing GG Michaëlle Jean "blowing people away"... with Taber chiming in that she was a "rock star."
In stark contrast, Bobbo actually referred to incoming GG David Johnston as... and I swear I'm not making this up... "a boring old white guy."
And hell, the culture mandarins at the Globe & Mail are obviously on board...
"Mr. Johnston has a difficult act to follow, however, replacing the charismatic Michaëlle Jean, who attended the ceremony. Every time her name was mentioned there was applause; she received a sustained standing ovation when she entered the chamber."I guess it was just a huge disappointment that nobody could find yet another charismatic, female, foreign-born, visible minority, ex-employee of the CBC.
Good grief.

Mr Harper has made a terrific choice. Taber and Fife just can't cope with it. It makes them look foolish.
Alberta Bob
Just heard on CBCs The House our new GG apparently had a show on CBC Newsworld in its' early years

seems the mighty globe & mail has got "michaëlle fever" as well... i mean, who would want a mere "former academic and university professor"... when they could have a former "charismatic" cbc reporter.
suckass political correctness... the song that never ends.

The media obviously doesn't understand that many jobs can be done by people who are quietly and competently innovative. Conversely, they haven't learned that a personality (like the big Owe) doesn't necessarily get the job done competently.
Okay, this dates me, but I still think GG Vanier was fantastic. And his wife was the perfect consort.

gotta confess... i think we're long overdue to abolish a totally ceremonial (not to mention incredibly costly) position that can apparently be executed by anyone with a dollop of "charisma."
and sorry... i'm gonna piss some people off here... but the monarchy is about as relevant to my life as, say... oprah winfrey.
how about we abolish it entirely and dump the money into our failing health care system?
