I'd say that Miller's endorsement has just thrown a wrench into the whole Anyone-But-Ford movement that was trying to divert support to Smitherman. If Miller's endorsement gives Pantalone even a little bit more of a base, it will be drawn primarily from Smitherman's support.

In that case, it muddies the view of people with an eye on an Anyone-But-Ford strategic voting. The closer the number two and three spots are together, the more entrenched their supporters will get, each thinking that they have the winning horse. And that will only solidify Ford's position.

Either way, Miller's endorsement of Pantalone is going to be a good thing for Rob Ford.; 9:57 AM, October 06, 2010

and, as you point out here, those chickens are coming home to roost.

ford is neither the brightest, smartest or most photogenic of the candidates... yet he continues to outpoll everyone.
