Didn't Toronto's last Mayor say he was gonna stop all the violence by closing down all the shooting ranges?
"The victim, believed to be 19 years old, was shot in the back while in the Lawrence Avenue East and Galloway Road area, a spokesperson with Toronto EMS says."

I thought the Liberals were supposed to be the "healthcare" party.

It seems David Suzuki has expensive tastes for someone who wants to shut down the carbon economy within a generation. His primary residence is valued at around $8,200,000.00.

Suzuki owns four properties in some very exclusive areas. One of his properties includes part of an island he shares with an oil company, among others.
And yet Suzuki still manages to present himself as a humble little eco-David battling deep-pocketed Corporate Goliath. The one time advocate of zero population growth... who left his first family and started another.

-- OTTAWA -- CBC used taxpayers' money to gain access to a movie premier for a film they co-produced and owned the rights to, documents show.

The offer presented to CBC required an investment ranging from $10,000 for two tickets to $100,000 to sponsor the head table. CBC refused to release the amount they paid to the foundation but the contract shows they purchased a table of 10 plus two single tickets.

The agreement, costing taxpayers somewhere between the quoted prices of $35,000 and $110,000, also called for Suzuki to be granted interviews on CBC shows to profile his life and his film.

Cuts to regulations, staff and programs at the ministry are “short-sighted and regressive” and pose significant ecological risks, he said. It could have “disastrous results” for Ontario’s natural heritage and disrupt the way of life in the north.

Instead, Mr. McGuinty’s aides assured TransCanada it would receive the entire value of the contract."

"Under the contract, the government had no legal obligation to compensate TransCanada for lost profits in the event that the company could not complete the project."

He's not afraid to get into specifics...
On the subject of the Navy Seal raid that supposedly resulted in the death of the Al-Qaeda terror leader, Hersh remarked, “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true.”

Hersh added that the Obama administration habitually lies but they continue to do so because the press allows them to get away with it.

In a body-popping bid for wider understanding, scientists from Australia to the Netherlands are making interpretive dance videos based on their Ph.D. dissertations. To make an esoteric thesis come alive, they leap, swoon, spin and krump.

The performances -- all captured on video and posted online -- belong to an annual international competition called "Dance Your Ph.D," which for five years has been turning scientific obsessions into performance art. To qualify, the author of the Ph.D. dissertation must perform in the dance. Typically, the scientists submit the videos after being awarded their Ph.D.s.

“He appeared to be suffering from stab wounds,” Const. Wendy Drummond said. Police immediately suspected the man had been murdered [striking more yip-yap about the school lockdown, including a hastily dispatched rent-a-cop].

Homicide detectives stopped by the scene for a brief look around and soon after officially deemed the man’s death a murder, the city’s 41st killing of the year.

Police say an accident is what led to the murder of 62-year-old Anthony Koko Chang. 24-year-old Kimnarine Keshan Maharaj has been charged with second-degree-murder.

Det Kate Beveridge says the two got into an accident on Mount Pleasant Rd, near Roehampton Ave, last Tuesday.
Just another example of third world jurisprudence.

So says the CBC. Let me paraphrase...
"It is certainly not ideal to have been speculating about a drug empire that no one had actually seen," she wrote. "But given the high profile of the people involved, and how the rumours went viral, the decision to pound away on this speculative & destructive path for weeks on end made perfect business sense."

Just another story you won't see on the CBC.

Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," written in 1962, hit No. 2 on the Billboard charts just before the crowd gathered in Washington. When the folk-music trio Peter, Paul and Mary sang the song for the 250,000 people in front of the Lincoln Memorial that day, it became an interracial anthem for change. The song itself drew inspiration from two others: The lyrics brought to mind Woody Guthrie's "Bound for Glory," which included an allegory about newspapers blowing down city streets, and its melody came from a slave protest song called "No More Auction Block."

Sam Cooke, the black gospel and rhythm-and-blues singer began performing the Dylan song immediately after the march. He had been working on a song about the hurt he felt as a black man living with racism yet also with hope for better times. In December 1963, Cooke recorded "A Change Is Gonna Come." The song became a hit on black radio, another anthem of yearning for a nation without racial rancor.

Now, half a century after the lyrical promise of that inspiring music and poetry, there is the inescapable and heartbreaking contrast with the malignant, self-aggrandizing rap songs that define today's most popular music.

In Jay-Z's current hit, "Holy Grail," he sings about "psycho bitches" and uses the n-word seven times while bragging that he is "Living the life . . . Illest [n-word] alive." Another top rapper, Lil Wayne, released a song in the spring with an obscenity in the title, using the n-word repeatedly and depicting himself as abusing "hoes" and "bitches."

Similar examples abound in the rap-music world and have persisted for years with scarcely any complaint from today's civil-rights leaders. Their failure to denounce these lyrics for the damage they do to poor and minority families—words celebrating tattooed thugs and sexually indiscriminate women as icons of "keeping it real"—is a sad reminder of how long it has been since the world heard the sweet music of the March on Washington.
Progress? Methinks not.
