Hundred million here...

...hundred million there... pretty soon you're talkin' serious change...

I have a friend who is a member of what, these days, is fashionably known as the "working poor". He got downsized from a mid-level managerial position at a major American corporation, lost his house to the bank and had to flee back home to Canada... where he watched his marriage Hindenburg.

How bad is it? Well, his call center McJob pays a shade more than minimum wage, so he just sublet the extra bedroom in his apartment to a co-worker & his girlfriend... because he was tired of choosing between eating & making the rent.

Oh yeah... he recently lost a cap off a front tooth... which he can't afford to fix, so right now he looks like a hillbilly from an old Walker Evans photo.

Try imagine how he feels about government handouts to refugees, or third generation welfare chiselers.
-- OTTAWA -- "The federal government is rolling back a number of health benefits currently available to asylum claimants because if Canadians don’t get free eye and dental care, neither should refugees, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said Wednesday."

"The move is expected to save about $100 million over five years and Kenney hopes it will deter bogus claimants from abusing Canada’s generosity."
The Harper government just locked in another life-long voter.

Can they do more? Hell, yes. As long as there's a single hungry child left here in Canada... let's talk about the billions of taxpayer dollars we're doling out to third world oligarchies.

Or how about those gold-plated Parliamentary pensions. How about government responsibility? Maybe start by firing Bev Oda... that's get MP's attention.

Less than a year after he asked voters to make him prime minister, Michael Ignatieff is now warning that Quebec and Canada are almost two separate countries, drifting towards a possible breakup.

Ignatieff says he's saddened to see how Canada and Quebec have become isolated, with the optimism of decades past having given way to disillusionment.

"Now effectively, we’re almost two separate countries."

• MIAMI (AP) • "Martin's parents have a 'heavy heart' now that Zimmerman has been released from jail, said Benjamin Crump, an attorney for the 17-year-old's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton.

"They hope his freedom is temporary because the pain he has caused this family is permanent," Crump said Monday.

Well, not exactly...
With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law-enforcement authorities told the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Why do you imagine... despite the MSM and even the Whitehouse calling for Zimmerman's head... it took 6 weeks to find a prosecutor who was willing to lay a charge? Face it folks... you've been duped yet again.

The Harper government is shuttering the Kingston Penitentiary, a maximum security facility in eastern Ontario that has housed some of Canada's most notorious criminals.

It’s also closing down the medium-security Leclerc Institution in Laval, Que.

The budget contained a line that said: “The government has not built a single new prison since 2006 and has no intention of building any new prisons.”
If anything, it's the Liberals who are driving the need for more prison beds.

His girlfriend, Krystle Magallanes, told CBC News that Lumanglas had kicked a drug addiction and had been trying to turn his life around for herself and their four-month-old son.

Magallanes said her boyfriend “has a big heart” and said he “would never, ever stab a cop."

A bad day to be a lefty

The real reason George Zimmerman wasn't charged...

And one last little item...
And of course, almost no one knows that on the night he took Trayvon Martin’s life, George Zimmerman willingly consented to take a voice stress analyzer test, a kind of lie detector test used by the Sanford police. He passed it.
Apparently President McDreamy & company... (ie. the New Black Panther Party)... jumped the, uh... gun... yet again.

"Dead niggers. What's not to like, eh neo?"
Once again, the voice of the compassionate, intellectual, anonymous left.

Oh c'mon, Libby... you can do better than that.

In fact you already have.

You ever notice how... in blogospheric circles, anyway... it's invariably the lickspittle left who resort to tossing out the emotionally charged innuendo, threats & accusations?

I wish I had a dime for every time "Liberal Supporter" & his ilk dropped in here to accuse me of racial murder, or rampant nazi-ism. It's just all so predictable and boring.

No wonder actual writers like Kathy Shaidle have such a huge following...
"Now look: words are my profession. Set Hustler’s in-house style guide in front of me and I’m like a cat with an empty box – or, come to think of it, a boy with a copy of Hustler."
So pardon me for being so direct, Libby... but answer me this... if George Zimmerman, as the actual evidence suggests, is the victim here... will you be issuing a public apology for all your Sharptonesque vitriol?

UPDATE: Who needs courts or trials?

Doesn't George Zimmerman deserve at least as much due process as any other accused?
Trayvon Martin’s parents, who divorced in 1999, left the court stone-faced and with arms locked, declining to answer questions from reporters.

They are devastated” by the bail, family attorney Benjamin Crump told reporters, adding that Tracy Martin had tears in his eyes throughout the hearing.
Not according to some folks, I guess.

Notice the reporter here refers to the "racially charged case."

While on the ground, the man was set upon by about ten attackers, who stole his Tag Heuer watch, money, iPhone, and keys to his Audi, according to police. The dazed and defenseless victim is also punched, kicked, and even hit with a shoe by several assailants.

While the Kenneys — who represented themselves at the hearings — said both their health and property values were affected by the turbines and their noise, the review board rejected their pleas.

MPAC told the review board that proximity to wind turbines is not built into the model the corporation uses to assess properties.
You know that model, right... the one that says (never mind Dalton channeling Al Gore) the government never loses?
The sides had informal talks about a possible settlement during the hearings, Ed Kenney said, but MPAC had insisted that any settlement agreement should have no mention of wind turbines. In the end, no agreement was reached and the case was decided by a two-member review board panel.
Yup... there's a shocker.
John Andrew, real estate professor at Queen’s University’s School of Business, said the decision by the review board isn’t surprising. Putting a value on external factors like wind turbines, a nearby airport, or concentrations of student housing can be tricky, he said in an interview.

"People could run to MPAC and say: ‘Hey, I’ve got a whole bunch of student houses on my street and they’re partying ’til one in the morning and my property value should reflect that.'"
