  --  Special Investigations Unit Spokesperson Kristy Denette made it very clear that the SIU was in Belleville with a very narrow mandate to investigate the conduct of city police officers who had injured the civilian shooter.   Denette referred all questions about the criminal investigation to Belleville Deputy Police Chief Sharon Meeks who announced that they would not be commenting on the incident while SIU was investigating.  --  

It seems Chief of Police Murray Rodd did not want to touch this thing with somebody elses' 10 foot pole.
