From better to diverse...

...that's funny... I guess there are still some folks out there, who aren't feeling dishonoured...

Offers of help are pouring in for an eight-year-old Liberian girl disowned by her own family in Phoenix, Arizona, after being raped by four boys.

The girl is under the care of the Arizona Child Protective Service (CPS) because her parents said she had shamed them, and they did not want her back.

Phoenix police said calls had come in from all over the US offering money, or even to adopt the young girl.
A spokesperson for the Liberian community thinks Dad & Mom should get some counselling.

Most folks outside "the community" seem ready to send them to jail.

“She [Zainab] had fallen in love, like all teenagers at a certain point,” Mr. Abdali told CTV News. “The parents didn't like that she should marry a Pakistani boy without money or wealth. They didn't want it to be seen by society, or by other Afghans.”

Rona, 50, confided to her two siblings that she overheard Mr. Shafia saying he would kill his eldest daughter over her behaviour and the relationship.

IF they send this child back to her family, she'll forever be a target for their anger and abuse until they kill her outright.
What a shame, poor girl.

The understatement of the year. If this is the best that a Liberian "spokesperson" can come up with, then they need to be in another line of work.

How does counselling work to reform their parenting ways when they don't even want their child anymore? How does an innocent child get over that kind of abandonment and betrayal, that her parents don't want her anymore because its her fault now that she has been raped?

Are the families of the rapists dishonored by their acts.
If this girl, and siblings if there are any, goes back to her parents she is a murder victim waiting to happen. Hope she can swim. If anyone dishonored the family it is the parents. Jail them for life.

"michael asks... How does an innocent child get over that kind of abandonment and betrayal?"

well, michael... the short answer is... she doesn't.

given the circumstances, this is child abuse of the worst sort. charge the parents to the fullest extent of the law and find this girl a loving home elsewhere.

it won't begin to fix the horrible wrongs inflicted here... but sometimes you just do what you can.
