yes, scrap all the registries. then we may be as well armed as all your beloved Toronto gangbangers.
There is no separate registry for handguns and automatic weapons. Its all the same gong show. For the record, we require permission from the federal government to transport our handguns and automatic weapons to the nearest approved (by the federal government)range. The Chief Firearms Officers of all provinces are no longer issuing Authorizations to Transport for automatic weapons so legal owners can't even shoot them anymore. None of this bothers the criminals because they are, by definition, completely unconcerned with the laws of the land. We have had a handgun registry in Canada since the Thirties and it has achieved exactly nothing to control crime.
