-- MONTREAL -- The Canadian government has been spending tens of thousands of dollars each year to provide condoms to inmates in federal prisons.
According to documents obtained under Access to Information laws, during the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 fiscal years, the 50 federal prisons in Canada have spent nearly $120,000 to allow the 14,000 inmates to have protected sex.
Nearly half of the money is devoted to prisons in Ontario.

Some more fat to be trimmed from "the system".
Excellent.
Far better to have to deal with HIV and Hep C when they get out, right?

now we have to help accommodate incarcerated criminals as they continue to spit in the face of civil society?
and, following that logic djb... should we provide child molesters with small, under-developed, taxpayer-subsidised hookers... in hopes that they'll stop raping children?
you really think when these amoral thugs get out of slam... they're gonna magically start practising safe sex? my guess is they mostly use the condoms to hide drugs up their rectums.
wake up, peace moonbeam... and smell the predators.

Then we have the teachers union in NY upset that viagra is no longer covered by their insurance policies. Estimated cost is in the millions. Who knew that all those male teachers suffered from erectile disfunction.
Dumb question, do those prisoners use those condoms for conjugal visits.
OOPs, it is teachers in Milwakee that want viagra covered in their benefit plan. Bet they don't get it,this fight has been going on since 2005.
Simple solution, with over 500 teacher being laid off there, why not just include all those disfunctional male teachers in the list of soon to be unemployed staff.
