Correct; why should be try to drag a 12th. century culture kicking and screaming into the 21st. century. Our responsibility is to make certain we don't allow this backward philosophy to drag us into the past; a task at which we are failing.

i guess i'd like to ask the globe editorial board why they think it's our responsibility to convince the mullah-o-cracy that stoning women to death is a bad idea.
the fact is we're talking about folks who are willing to kill over cartoons.
i suspect they may be past convincing.
