bye-bye iggy'Cos I gotta tell ya, Mikey... there are some dogs that shouldn't ever leave the backyard.

bye-bye iggyReader Rich's head explodes...

"Note to Iggy -- if the other countries' economies tank, we won't be immune. We need to be cutting costs to the bone and lowering taxes."

"In any event, if you wanted to have tax money go somewhere, this hare-brained idea is one of the last places it should go."

"There is a program for this. It's called Her Majesty's Canadian Forces. Heck, they paid my expenses to see the USA (well, various artillery impact areas in Michigan and New York State), West Germany and Egypt and Israel."

“Do I look like someone who is campaigning for any other job than being prime minister of the country?” said Mr. Ignatieff

No....you look like someone trying to get a buy out and keep your pension instead of just quitting before before you lose all your dignity.

Sadly, it's going to seem as though I'm completely fixated on Iggy's tour this summer, simply because he seems to be averaging at least 1 stupid thing said a day.

I wonder if there's an RSS feed other than the Liberal Party's for the gaffe a day.

"norm says... it's called Her Majesty's Canadian Forces."

what a great idea... how about a period of mandatory military service for anyone over 18 years of age?

it would help with unemployment, skills training, self-confidence and esprit de corps.

it's just ice-cream that it's also great way for new canadians to learn what this great country is about.

So, let's get this right. Mr Ignatieff wants to pay young Canadians to work abroad. Presumably, said young Canadians, not being totally stupid, will declare themselves 'non-resident' for the duration so they have to pay taxes on their income only in their host countries. So the rest of us get to donate funds to enable Canadians to be productive and pay taxes elsewhere.

i'm with norm... we already have a program.

let's take it a little further and institute a year of mandatory military service.
