Wonder if Iggy...
...and the "we need more abortions" crowd are aware of this study...
-- WINNIPEG -- Women who have had an abortion are nearly four times as likely to have problems with drugs and alcohol as women who have not, according to a study conducted by University of Manitoba researchers.Geez... who would have ever suspected?
The study also found connections between abortion and other mental health conditions like mood disorders, but substance use disorders showed the strongest link.
In the meantime, the authors suggest that when women present for abortions, clinicians should screen them for substance use problems and other mental disorders, and vice versa.

The study did not demonstrate whether women who have abortions are more prone to develop substance abuse problems or whether women with such problems are more likely to have abortions.
I think we all know that alcohol and drug addiction lead to unwanted pregnancies and ultimately abortions, not the other way around.

"anon says... not the other way around"
well, i'm no scientist, but i'm guessing... plain ol' promiscuity & dumb-assity... might just figure into the mix somewhere.

So basically a woman can hold the government responsible for her mental health issues after having a state sanctioned abortion, if no counselling is given on the mental health issues that can manifest after an abortion.
Now that is interesting.
Could a country like Africa come back on Canada for promoting abortion to uneducated females, who under duress and foreign government incentive, have one?
plain ol' promiscuity & dumb-assity...
It takes 2 to tango.

"anon says... It takes 2 to tango."
see the difference between us, nonny?
i wouldn't be trying (whoever might actually be the bigger dumbass in this situation) to rationalise stupidity.

I have read some medical studies showing the incidence of breast cancer in women who have had abortions is VERY much higher than in women who have not had an abortion. The incidence of breast cancer increases substantially in women who had multiple abortions.
The cause effect relationship is there are high levels of certain hormones in pregnant women which are necessary for fetal development. Natural miscarrages are often caused by a lack of these hormeones. An induced miscarrage (ie abortion) leaves the hormones free without a fetus to use the hormone.
My lack of science knowledge renders me unsure of the cause effect but it is suspect these medical studies have not been given more exposure or followup.
