The horror of Guantanamo

Maybe they were forcing him to be on the 'skins' team...

Omar Khadr boycotted - for the third straight morning - Saturday’s hearing in his war crimes trial on murder and terrorism charges.

"He has no legitimate reasons, if he can play basketball he can come to court," Military Judge Col. Patrick Parrish said, ruling that Mr. Khadr, the sole Canadian held at Guantanamo, was exercising his right to voluntarily absent himself from the hearings.

It’s not clear if Mr. Khadr believes the court doesn’t proceed without him but it does. His lawyers have repeatedly urged him to attend.
I'm guessing you could write a book about all the stupid shit this guy believes. Come to think of it... it's probably in the works as we speak.

His actions certainly will not win friends and influence non Lib/ndp people in Canada.
He might wish he had taken the first plea bargain. Admit he threw the genade and spend 5 yrs in prison.
But, I hope his antics get him at least 40 yrs with no parole.

i seriously doubt that... true believers like omar wear their victimhood like a medal.

if i had been on that patrol where omar got his ass blown up... i would have been tempted to say... "sorry, dude... we'd treat your injuries... but somebody murdered our medic."

bear in mind, also... he gets convicted of whatever down in the states... all he has to do is transfer to a canadian prison and he'll be out in a month.

don't believe me?

remember "brenda martin?

Don't you worry. He'll be home soon enough and living off of his lawsuit proceeds.

What would be justice is if, after he's won his lawsuit and ripped us taxpayers off, if he gets sued for all his winnings by the family of the medic for reckless endangerment.

That would be fitting.

If I had been on the patrol the records would show that all insurgents were dead when we entered the compound, and we discovered one "Canadian " born terrorist who had bled to death.

Yeah, that's the most galling part of this whole thing: the Americans went out of their way to save the life of someone who *murdered* one of their own (and it was most definitely murder, since Kadr wasn't a 'soldier', child or otherwise), and they've been taking nothing but abuse for it ever since. Those held in Guantanamo Bay have it better than they ever did on the battlefield...or at home, for that matter.
