Herding the multicultural cats

Another fuzzy-bunny Globe & Mail poll goes sideways...

rainbows & candied unicornsThink about that for a second. Over two thirds of the folks responding to this poll say yes. As do, apparently, increasing numbers of people around the globe.

"Our European allies call multiculturalism a failed experiment. Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and even our Commonwealth cousin Australia have all, to differing degrees, blamed multiculturalism for separating peoples, weakening national cohesion and encouraging Islamic extremism."

"Is Canada the exception?"
Hmmm... it sure doesn't look like it.

The ceremony performed by the Gurrir Gurrir people remembers events surrounding Cyclone Tracy (1974), which devastated Darwin in northern Australia.

The spirits were said to have imparted new songs and dances aimed at maintaining the diversity of indigenous culture and the Warmun artistic tradition was born.
What's a little booga-booga between friends, huh?

Multiculturalism will never be a success as long as one specific group thinks that the multi should adopt their culture.

I would say that Canada is perhaps even worse as it was one of the first to adopt multiculturalism as an official govt policy.

We have had longer to socially restructure our country and have had more immigrants come to it than any other nation.

When I go to my city of Toronto and feel a stranger amongst a sea of Asians, I feel it is a failed policy.

Read the comments Neo, what happened to the liberal infestation over there and how'd they get rid of the libloons?

Multicultural polices are cancerous, they exist to destroy the host's culture and replace it with dozens of inferior cultural norms it's worked quite well in Tarrana. Ah Tarrana the land of ghettos and ethnic, racial and religious enclaves where only their brethren can wander.

or, you could... ask an aussie...

Australia's former prime minister John Howard has attacked "multiculturalism" in English-speaking nations, saying that some sectors have gone too far in accommodating Muslim minorities.

The blunt-talking conservative, who led Australia for 11 years before losing 2007 elections, said Tuesday on a visit to Washington that the "Anglosphere" needed to take greater pride in its values and achievements.

"This is a time not to apologize for our particular identity but rather to firmly and respectfully and robustly reassert it," Howard said at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank.

Wow, 12,000+ votes and 2-to-1 against even in a PC organ like the G&M.

Just wow.
