Canadian of Convenience-in-Chief...

...trots out his defense...

“You know and we know that no matter where we come from, where we live or have lived, we are all of us proud Canadians.”
See, professor... I'n not so sure about that. What about the tens of thousands of folks who just got finished paralysing Toronto for the last week or so?

And besides... that's not even the issue, is it?
Mr. Harper's press secretary, Dimitri Soudas, said last night the issue is not the years Mr. Ignatieff spent abroad, but that he came back only to try to become prime minister.

“Canadians who chose to work outside the country don't pretend that Canada is not their country.”
Michael Ignatieff, after 34 years on the road, rolls back into town at 58 years of age... because he's suddenly feeling patriotic?

Yeah, sure... that makes sense.

**********

FROM THE COMMENTS:
"Is Ignatieff's current wife a landed immigrant or a citizen of Canada or ?

I read that the "family" home was in Florence, Italy? Are they citizens of Italy?"

This is your homework assignment from the Professor, write this sentence until you feel the love. "Michael Ignatieff is not, I repeat not a crass, opportunistic, self-serving politician". "Michael Ignatieff is not, I repeat not a crass, opportunistic, self-serving politician". "Michael Ignatieff is not, I repeat not a crass, opportunistic, self-serving politician". Works for me, I already feel inclined to vote Liberal - NOT. Cheers Fern StAlbert

Like the many other 'Canadians of convenience' when they want something, they are all of a sudden Canadian, for awhile.

Does Iffy.me have dual citizenship?

it seems iggy was also a husband and father of convenience.

the fact is, he's an upwardly mobile opportunist who will trade in the liberal leadership as soon as the going gets rough.

if you don't believe me... ask his ex-wife and two ex-kids.

Just curious:

Is Ignatieff's current wife a landed immigrant or a citizen of Canada or?

I read that the "family" home was in Florence, Italy? Are they citizens of Italy?

Are Ignatieff's children citizens of Canada or the United Kingdom where they were born?

If Igster was a conservative the media would have tracked down these questions - dogged his former wife for all of the juicy details and we know know everything about his arrogance and crfuelty towards his own brother, the reason the Grant family has virtually disowned him, all about his children's lives, loves and foibles, etc.

But, alas, Liberals are kept in the media bubble so we, the great unwashed voters will only respond to the stories THEY want us to know.

Anybody agree?

saw a clip recently of iggy speaking on american television... lecturing folks on how he... "as an american" felt about... yadda, yadda, yadda.

as kate is wont to say... "the first american prime minister-in-waiting".

Anti-Americanism is a hallmark of the Liberal policy platform, they've always been willing to incur job losses simply to be anti-American. So how will they work that into their unofficial policy now that they have an American leader? coupled with a fellow-traveller-of-bankrupt-ideology in the White House?

"if you don't believe me... ask his ex-wife and two ex-kids" neither of whom attended Iggy's recent coronation. The daughter remained in England and the son couldn't get out of Toronto.

Btw, is Iggy's wife a Canadian citizen yet?

i dunno... but iggy's honourary tamil citizenship may be in jeopardy.
