Song sung Blue

The more I hear of Tim Hudak... the more I like the song...

"It took from Confederation to 2002 for the Ontario government to take the provincial budget to $68-billion. This year, thanks to Dalton McGuinty, government spending will skyrocket past $100-billion. And don’t forget, Ontario is already carrying a total debt burden of more than $170-billion."

"But I’m hard-pressed to find an Ontario family or business that is feeling twice as well-served or twice as well off."

Tim will do well for the party,

he's well liked and respected here.

I have been chuckling to myself about all the antics Randy and Tim pulled off at the convention.
Everything was so well orchestrated by the two of them but their efforts will be well rewarded and a boon to the residents of Ontario.
1.Tim openly supported John Tory in the by election,Randy was conspicuously silent, whereby Tim now has gained the trust of the Toronto/Red Tories.
2.Tim opposed Randy's proposal to do away with the youth wing, again Tim gains the support of the Youth/Gay delegates.
3.Randy has the rural and grassroots support, so does Tim with his strong right views.
Randy has played his cards well elevating Tim's profile to insure Tim's victory,as well his own profile.Randy is smart enough to see the future of the party lays in Tim and Randy being Tim's lieutenant helps promote "True Conservative Values"
Yes, Randy will run but rest assured he will be attracting votes in support of Tim.

Now I ask "Why did the Ontario Teachers Federation have a hospitality suite at the convention? Do they see the handwriting on the wall and are they schmoozing up to the OPC knowing Tim is the front runner.
Tim is the son of retired teachers.
'Nuff said!

Thank God McGuinty banned weed killers. At least I won't go hungry, my grandma made a tasty dandelion salad.

Tim may have openly supported Tory during the by-election, but he has been openly campaigning, with his very broadly distributed newsletter, since the leadership review. In fact, he sent out his newest version of the newsletter ON BY-ELECTION DAY and did not even mention it, let alone wish Tory good luck!

That aside I think Tim's a great guy and an excellent attack dog. But I don't think he's the change voters are looking for. It's not enough to support conservative principles - which we partisans like him for. Voters want a different kind politics, and we need to show real contrast from McGuinty. Christine Elliott, still conservative in principles, shows that contrast in style much better than Hudak does. Tim is great for our base only, which is not enough to win... Christine can get the base and more.

Christine Elliott would be the death knell, the public would view the OPC an arm of the CPC. More exact a lap dog.

"sgd says... the public would view the OPC an arm of the CPC"

well sam... i guess that's one of the larger questions.

what exactly is a conservative... and how far do you stray from core principles... to reel in the larger field of folk?

myself, i'm somewhere close to... "let's take paul bernardo & clifford olson... and publicly flog and execute them"... which is definitely not gonna play to the mcslippery lickin' sheeple.

it's a dilemma, huh?

Ha, wish I'd seen your last comment sooner. I'd go with 'lets take Paul Bernardo, grab him by the ankles and swing his head up against Olsen until they both remain a bloody heap.'
