What is this "homeless" nonsense you speak of?
“The investigation is focusing on whether these interactions could have contributed or facilitated, in any way, the terrorist attack subsequently committed by Zehaf-Bibeau.”
Of course, not everyone is in agreement...
OTTAWA — NDP Leader Tom Mulcair said the latest information about Zehaf Bibeau indicates that he should not be defined as a terrorist.
C'mon Tommy... even Justin Al-Trudeau isn't fighting the RCMP on this one.

She doesn't recall telling him to stop but said her facial expression turned very serious and Ghomeshi was no longer violent after that. She left within an hour and saw Ghomeshi two more times that weekend, but they did not discuss the incident, and no further violent incidents occurred.

She said she had no physical marks on her body from the attack and did not seek medical attention or report it to the police, partially because she felt there were too many holes in her story.
So, now the question is... will this matter proceed to the police?

Ask a Professional Journalist

Even as we bury Corporal Nathan Cirillo in Hamilton today, the mainstream media is busy commiserating with THE REAL VICTIMS of this horrendous crime.

I'm speechless.

The way Canadian media covers firearms related incidents in this country is spectacularly bereft of logic or reason. We know, from the constant panic-laden coverage that firearms ownership, taken largely for granted in our once mostly agricultural nation is now, according to our media betters... a cultural mark of Cain.

It extends even to our proud military, reduced, despite a heightened threat level, to carrying unloaded "ceremonial" rifles. Had Corporal Cirillo and his brethren on duty at the National War Memorial been permitted to carry live rounds (a quick pull on the charging handle to chamber a bullet) in the rifles they were holding, this tragic story could have had a very different ending.

Suddenly, surprisingly, after the murders of two Canadian soldiers in the space of two days, the CBC and like organisations have suddenly embraced firearms. Well, only one firearm, really... and only when it is fired by one unlikely person.

Big Mother, as we are all too well aware, resolutely regards firearms as the Devil's playthings. A businessman who defends his store, or a homeowner who repels a home invasion with a gun are considered criminals. If however, you are defending a politician, suddenly the worm turns.

And where is Wendy Cukier... when you really, really need her? Wendy and her ilk are all very quick to condemn private firearms ownership. They get all shrill and sweaty and aflutter every time a gun surfaces in the Canadian media.

Unlike, however... virtually ever other incident where a violent criminal is shot by police, no one in the media, or on the Opposition benches is demanding to know why Kevin Vickers didn't just shoot Michael Zehaf-Bibeau in the arm or leg.
Vickers immediately ran behind the other side of the pillar. That put him an arm's-length away from Bibeau. According to guards, Vickers actually could see the barrel of Bibeau's gun pointing out, a foot away.

Vickers did not hesitate. In one motion, sources told CBC News he dove to the floor around the pillar, at the feet of Bibeau, turning on his back as he landed and simultaneously firing his weapon upwards at Bibeau.

Bibeau was hit multiple times and fell to the ground. Vickers kept firing, emptying his entire magazine.

As soon as Bibeau dropped, the rest of the security team sprinted forward and opened fire.
Normally, there would be a media frenzy as reporters and left-leaning politicians demanded to know why tasers and teams of social workers had not been deployed.

I guess there are good guns and there are bad guns. Good guns save politicians lives... bad guns just save ordinary citizens.

That's just so wrong. I don't believe my wife or son's life is any less valuable than that of Tom Mulcair. Shouldn't the law of the land reflect that belief?

Thing is, Kathleen... I'm pretty sure...

...no one from my rural, largely agricultural community, would ever consider even badmouthing Canadian soldiers, never mind try to murder them.

So what is Premiere Wynne really saying?
"In Ontario we are already engaged with many communities, right from my own riding ... that has one of the largest Muslim populations in the country, and there are many, many people who are engaged with us."
I'm not sure what sort of engagement the Premiere is referring to. It can't be engaged as in marriage... because marrying outside the faith, or converting to another religion is a crime that, in most Muslim countries is punishable by death.

Maybe engagement is some sort of socialist codeword. Or maybe it's what you say when you don't actually have any real ideas about what to do.

I do know that when my parents immigrated here back in the fifties, no one bent over backwards trying to "engage" them. They were expected to be good citizens, lead productive lives and obey the laws of the land.

What is this engagement thing and why is the onus not on newcomers to fit into Canadian society? If immigrants don't believe that Canadians have a society that is superior to their country of origin... then why the heck did they come here?

Maybe it's an ESL thing...

Dear Imam Hashmi... I don't think the words freedom and safety mean what you think they mean...
"I hope we are not going to change too much as far as our safety is concerned and as far as our freedom is concerned, but our safety was affected," said imam Sikander Hashmi from the Kanata Muslim Association on CBC Radio’s Ottawa Morning.
There are two people who have lost their lives to terrorist acts here (as well as many more maimed)... and none of them is Muslim. There are two terrorists who perpetrated these unspeakable acts... and both of them are. Muslim, that is.
Habib Nasrallah, a civilian member of the RCMP in Ottawa, also reached out to CBC News to share his thoughts on radicalized individuals. He wanted to make it clear Islam does not condone terrorist activity. "There are Muslims out there who are not insane, who understand Islam the way it should be understood."
Good to know, Habib. Again, I'm not sure whether there's a language barrier here, but you do understand that, using most local community standards, simply being "not insane" is setting the bar really, really low.

Always nice to get the scoop from fellows like Sikander and Habib. I'm sure the CBC has a list of acceptable go-to Muslims (no screaming beardies) that it uses for soundbites after events like the two recent attacks.

Thing is, you feel obligated to issue a press release stating that you are really not fine with violent, premeditated attacks (up to and including murder of persons you have never even met)... I'd venture you have more than a simple image problem.

Whatever else you might say about Pierre-lite... that boy is fleet of mouth.

Despite these omissions, the heir transparent offers up his own body and those of his band of merry social workers to solve these "acts of violence".
I’ve extended an offer of full support to the government, along with any assistance members of our party can provide at this time.
Sure thing, kiddo... you and your peeps jock up, grab Glocks and kevlar and synch up with the Mounties at Centre Block.

Oh, wait... "full support" actually means standing up during question period and assembling weaselly words into thinly disguised attacks on Stephen Harper.

Sort of like your "dick joke" in support of sending Canadian air-assets to combat ISIS.

And that plug for Moderate Islam was one heck of a touch.
"To our friends and fellow citizens in the Muslim community, Canadians know acts such as these committed in the name of Islam are an aberration of your faith."
Thing is, I'm guessing most Canadians would prefer to hear that sort of thing from the horse's, er... Imam's mouth

Also,  I don't think aberration means what you think it means.

Thre problem with your premise is that these so-called "aberrations of the faith" are daily front page news in any Islamic country I bring to mind.

Every day we read about bombings and beheadings, the kidnapping of young girls, the murder and mistreatment of wives and daughters... all in the name of Allah.  These places seem less like civilised nations than really, really big gang fights.

Gang fights with heavy weapons and high explosives.

Sure, people will hold up Turkey as a shining example of a civilised country, but even the Turks aren't above slaughtering thousands of Armenians or Kurds if the wind is blowing in the right direction.

The point I'm trying to make here is that we need to be doing all that we can to stop the spread of this behaviour and this violent belief system into Canada... preferably before we end up under siege... a North American Israel, if you will.

People like Justin Trudeau are telling Canadians that this sort of thing can NEVER happen here. I say only, in response to Justy's touchy-feely left-wing argle-bargle... wake-up and smell the cordite... it already has.

“While I understand the people are concerned about the use of deadly force by the police, by far – about 50 to 1 – more blacks in St. Louis are killed by other blacks as compared to white police officers,” Klinger says.

Over that same period, Klinger says 31 blacks were killed by police officers – 21 by white police officers.

“The sad fact is, we had well over a thousand black-on-black homicides in the city of St. Louis during that same decade,” he says.

Justin Trudeau rejiggers Catholicism

And don't get him started about voting your conscience...
Women’s reproductive rights trump the freedom of Liberal members of parliament to "vote their conscience" on abortion, Justin Trudeau said.

Trudeau has said that any Liberal MP, regardless of their personal beliefs, would have to vote against any proposed legislation that could limit a woman’s right to an abortion.
Justin Trudeau claims to be a Catholic... but he not only supports abortion... he's made it a mandatory Liberal Party plank. Stop and think about that for a moment. Your Liberal MP is not allowed to consider your wishes, or even think for himself. He or she must put aside all other considerations and vote the Justin line.

Of course, that kind of thinking makes sense when you consider Justin's stated admiration of the Chinese oligarchy. I guess Justin is convinced he knows better. I'm not sure how he still considers himself Catholic. As far as I know the Catholic Church still considers abortion to be a terrible sin. Perhaps Justin has some sort of pipeline to the Pontiff that none of us mortals have access to.

Justin's unwillingness to support Canada's military action against ISIS and his outright refusal to support revoking Canadian passports of homegrown Jihadis is similarly puzzling. One could cynically chalk it up to pandering for support among the Muslim electorate... or using Occam's Razor, place it firmly at the feet of Justin's naive world view. This isn't the first time the Shiny Pony has been caught with a bagful of magical fairy dust.

TORONTO -- A former American military sniper who fired his gun to scare off a stray dog in a rural area of Ontario deserves another trial on charges of careless use of a firearm, the province's top court ruled Friday. In its decision, the Court of Appeal said two lower courts were wrong to convict John Batty on the basis that the simple act of firing his gun was dangerous, and noted their rulings could have serious implications for those who live outside urban areas.

PLAN B

While the CDC does not believe that there are new cases of Ebola in the United States, the assumption in the checklist is that it is only a matter of time before the virus hits home.
The nightmare scenario is that the outbreak may be mutating into an aerially transmissable variant.

Toronto Police responded to the bar near Danforth Ave. and Dawes Rd. shortly after 5 p.m. and found the two victims suffering from apparent stab wounds.

A U.S. security team in Benghazi was held back from immediately responding to the attack on the American diplomatic mission on orders of the top CIA officer there, three of those involved told Fox News’ Bret Baier.

Their account gives a dramatic new turn to what the Obama administration and its allies would like to dismiss as an “old story” – the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
It didn't make sense then... and it sure doesn't now as more critical info surfaces.

On August 18, at least 17 suspected Ebola carriers fled the same hospital in Monrovia after a quarantine center was attacked by a rock-throwing crowd. They were then successfully returned to the facility.

It's no big deal... really...

...we can just change that to a Nobel Prize for fiction...
The speech by former US Vice-President Al Gore was apocalyptic. ‘The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,’ he said. ‘It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.’

Those comments came in 2007 as Mr Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his campaigning on climate change.

But seven years after his warning, far from vanishing, the Arctic ice cap has expanded for the second year in succession – with a surge, depending on how you measure it, of between 43 and 63 per cent since 2012.
At least you don't have to stay up nights worrying about those poor polar bears anymore.

Why Dalton McGuinty fled Ontario

Reason #14: He didn't want to be around when the lights went out.
The report by former Ontario Teacher Pension Plan guru Jim Leech said the pension plans for Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Hydro One (H1), Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and the Electricity Safety Authority (ESA) are unsustainable.

For every $1 contributed to the plan by the employee, taxpayers and hydro ratepayers contributed more than $5, the report says.

“In 2012, total contributions from all sources to the four plans were approximately $585 million,” it says.

“Of the $585 million, just over $100 million was contributed from employees.”

All of which is pushing up the cost of electricity.
Here's the real zinger...
Ontario’s net debt has soared by 89% since 2007-08 — a rate faster than that of the federal government or any other province, even Quebec, which also has staggering levels of debt.

Wednesday in Ferguson, the buzz was about a Facebook posting by local radio station 100.7 FM claiming the officer in the Aug. 9 shooting, Darren Wilson, would not be indicted because key witnesses said 18-year-old Michael Brown attacked the officer and attempted to take away his gun. Fox News reported Wilson suffered severe facial injuries, including an eye-socket fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun.

They already opposed tobacco. Now the nation’s doctors say Canadians shouldn’t smoke “any plant material” whatsoever, including marijuana. Delegates at the Canadian Medical Association’s general council meeting voted Wednesday to formally oppose the smoking of any plant substance.

Outgoing CMA president Dr. Louis Hugo Francescutti said smoking harms the lungs’ “natural cleaning and repair system and traps cancer-causing chemicals” in the airways.

He cited a 2008 study by the American Chemical Society that found marijuana smoke contains many of the same chemicals as tobacco smoke but in substantially higher levels.

By her account, when one of the bullets grazed Brown's arm, he turned around and “then he was shot multiple times.”
Yup... only now he was shot in the front of his body. Whew, that was a close call.
