I can see your trying to save yourself but it doesn't wash. Lots of countries that are regularly plagued by suicide bombers have the death penalty. It hasn't prevented a single bomber.
It won't stop a successful suicide bomber, but it would certainly put an end to a second attempt - not to mention cheaper that trying to rehabilitate them back into liberal society which is what I am assuming all the naysayers really want ...
