It is rather ironic that an Afghan citizen can write such a letter to our troops while the Liberals and the other opposition parties are doing their best to besmirch the names of these brave and valorous people.

ironic indeed.
but really, who better to appreciate the difference that the canadian intervention has made to this point in time.
perhaps the libs & dippers can take a page from this gentleman's book.

If we had reporting in WWII like we have now, we'd all be speaking German and liberal supporter, CC and Dr Dawg would be running the puppet government of Canada.
If we investigate the actions of bad cops, does it mean that we don't support the police? They're soldiers, not saints. It looks like some abuse occurred under our watch, we are accountable. Save the "you'd be speaking German if it wasn't for soliders" bullshit.

"tim blyden says... It looks like some abuse occurred under our watch"
using that sort of logic... (remember rwanda & darfur?)... we should immediately disband the totally useless, hypocritical united nations.
and timmy, last i heard, stephen harper wasn't president of afghanistan.
please feel free though, to immediately email hamid karzai.

@ Tim.
That's the thing, Tim, that you cannot get through the thick heads of your own:
There is no proof Canadian soldiers abused anyone. So why are you talking about bad cops?
The second thing is that maybe the Afghans abused some prisoners. Probably. That being said when it started to come down (during the liberal watch, mind you), the Conservative government and Canadian military took new steps ensure prisoners weren't being abused.
That's the real story. The thing going on on the hill is pure BS. And a classic example of muck raking for the sake of it.

"langmann says... The second thing is that maybe the Afghans abused some prisoners. Probably."
and tim... my guess is the prisoners were probably treated with the same lack of respect most afghani men show their wives & daughters.
but, it's funny... you don't hear any of the opposition politicos... or the socialist chimp-o-sphere... screaming about that.
