Damn you Al Gore...

...gimme my global warming right freakin' now...

Dallas, Jacksonville, Fla., and Little Rock, Ark., fell nearly 20 degrees below their average temperatures for this time of year on Monday, he said.

The cold snap is one of the nation's most widespread since January 1985, according to meteorologists at Accuweather.com.

While the cold is expected to ease slightly starting Thursday, this winter is on track to be one of the coldest in the past decade or two, said Ken Reeves, director of forecasting operations.
Meanwhile, just over the pond...
Thousands of schools are closed and travellers have been hit by major disruption after further heavy snowfall hit large parts of the UK.

The military was called in after up to 1,000 vehicles were stranded when snow blocked the A3 in Hampshire overnight.

Don't you know....the AGW crowd is now claiming that colder weather is the first sign of Global Warming.

Pensioners in the UK are burning unsold copies of 'An Inconvenient Truth' for warmth, now that electricity prices have skyrocketed there to pay for windmill construction

Well... I wouldn't say that they're saying that "now".

An Inconvenient Truth did say that melting of fresh water in the Arctic could slow or shut down the gulf stream, causing an ice age...

And that theory has been around for a while... (before Gore's movie, at any rate).

"anon1152 says... An Inconvenient Truth did say..."

and why wouldn't we trust the goracle, huh?

it's not like he'd have any reason to shade the truth.

Well... It isn't quite fair to say "he's wrong because he said it would get warmer, but it's cold now" and also say "he said it would get colder, and it is, but so what?"

I have no reason to trust Gore on his own, as a scientific mind. But I can recall hearing about the potential-ice-age-because-of-warming argument years before An Inconvenient Truth (in a university classroom... which may be considered suspect as a source of information, I know).

Gore is a spokesperson. It's fine to criticize Gore as a source. But if we want to know whether or not what he says about the climate is true or legitimate, it would be more fruitful to look at Gore's sources.

"hmmm... you mean like the diddled 'cru' data?"

Well... There is more than the CRU data.
And how much of that info has been "diddled"?

Though the short answer to your question is, yes. That's much better than statements made by Gore himself.

Touché.
