Another small victory for...

..."We the People"...

U.S. President Barack Obama has abandoned plans to bring Khalid Sheik Mohammed – the self-proclaimed mastermind of the 9/11 attacks – from Guantanamo to Manhattan for a criminal trial close to where the World Trade Center's twin towers collapsed.

Facing a revolt from New Yorkers and a congressional threat to withhold the hundreds of millions of dollars needed for security for the trial, Mr. Obama has bowed to the inevitable and is now expected to hold the trial elsewhere, likely at a military base.

“I think I can acknowledge the obvious,” an administration official said. “We're considering other options.”
Two words... King Midas.

Your King Midas comment reminds me of this; parts of it seem to apply here.

Why has it taken so long to bring these terrorists to trial.

unfortunately mary... it's not just terrorists... the whole of the justice system is bogged down.

i'd love to see what effect a harper majority would have on the whole process.

Sorry Neo, but it isn't the justice system that's bogged down. It’s much much worse that that.

It's the whole politically correct ideology with its guilt complex and its lack of self confidence that has bogged down western civilization.

Here in Canada, we have a classic display of this toxic ideology in the navel gazing over the terrorists (AKA : detainees) in Afghanistan. Another example is all the love and tolerance our society is showing to the Toronto 18. Is it any wonder that these murderers think they can take us down.

When the next group of Toronto 18ers are successful at carrying out a mass casualty attack, I’m predicting that our society will surrender, rather than counter attack.

well, crash... you're preachin' to the choir here.

hopefully, if there's some sort of mass casualty event in canada... that would wake people up, rather than make them surrender.

i can hope... can't i?

After all, that’s exactly what the CBC did when it was revealed what the Toronto 18 were going to do the CBC. They rushed out with their pathetic “Little Mosque” program as a submissive offering of surrender, or at the very least, an encouragement to do their dirty deed to the competition instead.

All King Midas touched turned to gold, did it not? Don't see that happening in the USA.

well, frances... think of it as a parable... rather than a documentary.

i quite like the analogy myself.

everybody thought president mcdreamy was their golden boy... but it turns out everything he touches... turns to shit.

Did you mean "Ozymandias"?

Neo Conservative said...

ah, bully... i should've known you'd be a big shelley fan... "look on my works ye mighty, and despair!"

i guess that'd work too.

Start with "O" as well. Context is everything.

More of a Blake fan, actually.

"bully says... Start with 'O' as well. Context is everything."

damn... i never thought i'd say it, but bully... in this particular instance, you're right.

blake, shelley... thing is, i'm just more of a tom waites guy myself. but i guess that'd be a bit too "philistine" for you and his dawgness...

"Being a former English major, I suppose I'm more than a little bit jealous that someone could parlay a doctorate in modernist Scottish poetry into a career path sufficient to keep someone from starving."

"mahmood asks... who pissed in Balbull's cornflakes this morning?"

i dunno what's up... i even offered him a compliment.

just lately, though... it seems that balbull, dawg and all their... cough, cough... highbrow hangers-on could really use a few "anger management" classes.

It's called protective colouration, lads - when my host chooses to play to play the Dumb, Plain Spoken Populist, it behooves me to play along. Did I overdo it, do you think?

"bully says... It's called protective colouration"

Um...that connection made sense to you, did it?

Neo Conservative said...

"bully asks... that connection made sense to you, did it?"

well... not as much as "dang fancypants and their durn fancy fag poets"... but c'mon, bully... we don't all have the gift of post-grad literary studies, you silver-tongued devil.

I danced for the scribes and the pharasees
They wouldn't dance, they wouldn't follow me
I danced for the fisherman James and John
They came with me so the dance went on

c'mon bully... don't stop now.
