Reconsidering the Reconsideration
In other "blood from a stone" news...
It appears Jones was having internal problems because of his stance. His internet service provider has apparently revoked service to him. Jones said this is a violation of his freedom of speech and religion. It also looks like the battle against Islam is a costly proposition... the Reverend's casualties are currently running about 30 percent.
Moreover, about 15 members of his 50-strong congregation have decided to leave as a result of the controversy.Stand by to see how we can further trivialise the whole Muslim-Christian issue over the next 48 hours.

UPDATE: Well, that didn't take long
The Globe & Mail decides to get all alliterative on his ass...

After putting the entire planet’s political-military-media complex on orange alert, a publicity-seeking Florida pastor on the outer fringes of Christian thought has chosen to defuse the propagandist time-bomb he himself set.C'mon guys... the "Pyromaniacal Pastor?"
Or has he?
Seriously?
Did you actually run out of "news" again today?
Let's check in with the media-savants in the nation's capitol...

It is worth noting that pastor Terry Jones and his 30-person church represents a thoroughly marginal influence on the American religious scene.Except, of course... that this "marginal" matter apparently required the personal intercession of not only the FBI... but St Barack of Washington, DC.
Which also... surprise, surprise... made big blaring headlines.
And the inevitable end result?
Perhaps our professional journalist "betters" need to step back and reconsider who is actually fanning the flames here.*********
FROM THE COMMENTS:
"In the end, that hick didn't even need to burn a Koran. Good job MSM, you just helped to give him everything he wanted and more."

You know, it doesn't matter that the pastor in question was pressured to stop his Qu'ran burning. Now there are going to be THOUSANDS of Qu'rans being burned. Any guesses what the most popular YouTube search inquiry is about to be?

lemme see... a third of this guy's 50 member congregation have apparently decided the rev is one toke over the line... and even then, this dumb-assery is still considered an earth-shaking media event?
reminds me of the way some obscure rookie senator got to be the most powerful man in the world.

I've noted your updates. See what I mean? Some hilly-billy was going to burn a Koran, and because of all the overblown media coverage and the fact that he was coerced into not doing it, thousands more are going to make it happen anyway.
Looks what is happening now. In the end, that hick didn't even need to burn a Koran. Good job MSM, you just helped to give him everything he wanted and more.

it's the apparently unstoppable dumbing-down of western society...
"Reality TV, having adjusted our notion of reality by creating D-list celebrities famous just for being famous, now threatens to unsettle the world, and define the American Dream down."
"Octomom and Balloon Boy are bad enough, but Jones embodies the Joe the Plumber-ization of actual public policy — below-average people christened as symbols of a pre-fab populism, suddenly coming alive as actors on a larger stage."
and anyone who is just sitting there in their livingroom, lapping this stuff up... is complicit in their own inevitable dissolution.
wake up folks... and smell the manipulation.

Neo - you're dissing Joe the Plumber. He probably has more common sense than to pull this type of stunt.

"frances says... you're dissing Joe the Plumber"
well, technically... that's the writer from the daily beast... but, to be honest... the one time i saw joe speak, it was less than impressive.
let's just say... he's no andrew coyne... and leave it at that.
