So, that's the good news?

For what it’s worth, the notion of a coup d’etat to take out Iggy even before his first anniversary in power is a mighty hard swallow.

Every Liberal leader gets to lose an election before the knife penetrates their shoulder blades and Mr. Ignatieff is no exception to that bloody rule.
Of course... if your standards aren't all that high to begin with...
If he is acquitted, Mr. Lavigne will be able to end his leave of absence and return to the Senate.

If convicted, he could lose the annual pay and the office, but start receiving an indexed parliamentary pension.

Bob Rae has been doing everything that a REAL Opposition leader does: giving interviews and leading off QP. Rae is even sounding off in committees. In short he is making himself heard.

Ignatieff has completely withdrawn by comparison. It makes you wonder who it was that told Ignatieff that was a good idea. Take a look around Ignatieff. Anyone that had any sort of loyalty to him on the inside is gone, even (especially)the people that recruited him. He is more isolated than ever.

I think Donolo knows EXACTLY what he was doing, what he IS doing. Ignatieff probably won’t find that out until it is too late. He may be casting his eyes into the darkness looking for that blade flung between his shoulders. But I wonder if he even realize that the real threat could be standing right beside him, holding the blade against his ribs while whispering in his ear.

Bob Rae is a fascinating politician. Fortunately, I never saw him up close and personal, as he practiced his black arts in Ontario provincial politics. He is a breathe taking "piece of work". Ignatieff and Rae have been rivals all their adult lives, starting with university in Britian. All these denials are beginning to add up. "There is no treachery or meaness of which a political party is not capable, for in politics there is no honour." Benjamin Disraeli. Cheers.
