U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay says she is alarmed over the increasing number of killings and other human-rights violations recorded during the past few days in the Democratic Republic of Congo's North Kivu province. And we're not just talking another one of Africa's constantly erupting civil wars... this is "ethnic cleansing" and tribal savagery at its finest.
These she says have included large-scale summary and arbitrary executions, rapes, disappearances, torture, harassment, unlawful arrest and arbitrary detention. And, call me crazy... nobody's thinkin' about calling it off... just because Navi asked really nicely.
The benighted United Nations... the Captain Kangaroo of world affairs.
