More political theatre from the guy...

...who brought you "hookers, mobsters & blow"...
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff urged the Prime Minister to extend Michaƫlle Jean's term as Governor-General when her current five-year tenure expires in September.
Now Michael... as someone who spent the last three odd decades outside the country... maybe you should actually be paying attention to the way things work here in Canada.
Mr. Harper recently announced he would not be extending Ms. Jean's term.
What immediately springs to mind here... is another pithy little shard of Iggy wisdom...
“Nothing is personal in politics, because politics is theater. It is part of the job to pretend to have emotions that you do not actually feel.”
Is anybody else getting tired of this nonsense?

RELATED: Smell the desperation
Indeed, in an attempt to be all things to all people, the Liberals have managed to please nobody.

The latest poll puts the Tories nine percentage points ahead, and Mr. Ignatieff scores a meagre 16% to Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s 31% on the question of who would make the best Prime Minister.
Just more assininity from the man who wants to spring Omar Khadr.

LAST WORD: Coyne weighs in
Worse, in mounting this highly public lobby for her to be retained, the Liberals have chosen to emphasize her demographic credentials: as a woman, black, francophone and immigrant.

These were in large part why she was appointed, of course, and perhaps that’s fair enough, though some of us grumped at her signal lack of other qualifications to the job.
But, but, but... she worked for the CBC.
