Ok. The article talks about the chief talking about gangs, youth crime. Where is anything about him being fired? What gives with the title of this?

Means that the Chief must have been fired because it was Miss Manners giving that statement.....

Well I really don't have a dog in this fight, but since you asked, no, that is just a TAD timid coming the Chief of Police for the largest city in the country when talking about running gun battles in his city.

Well, I don't live in Toronto. And you have the leafs, and mostly vote Liberal. So you have a lot of problems. The top cop not sounding scared and saying they are working on it sounds reasonable. Perhaps if you actually wanted to DO something about it like "stiffer penalties" and stop treating criminals like babies you might get some where.

the thing is, to me..."young men exchanging gunfire" (gifts are exchanged... gunfire is directed) sounds a little like something that might take place at a school christmas party.
see... what actually happens... is that metal projectiles traveling at roughly a thousand feet per second... tear through human flesh... very often splattering blood, hair and teeth all over anything, or anyone in a 5 meter radius.
so yeah, djxtreme... call me wacky... but i just found chief blair a tad on the prissy side of the all too violent, bloody events.

You will get no argument from me on the "homicidal thugs" comment. However in this day and age where the Liberals have turned the Justice system in to a daycare for the dregs of society, one has to know how to get what he wants without pissing off the masses. Using that language in the media or in public would make him sound like an "angry man with a gun looking for revenge". Something we all feel like needs to be done sometimes. But, won't win any points from the public or funding sources. Until the mood changes from "try and change them" to "throw away the key" it's a difficult game to be playing, and peoples lives are in the balance. Once again, thank the left.

Currently the way things are, thanks to Liberals the young offenders act and the judicial system in general is geared towards rehabilitation and "soft" punishment. Hence the "try to change them" comment. Under PMSH that will change to stiffer penalties and a "throw away the key" policy for repeat offenders. Basically Liberals wanna coddle criminals, CPC says you do a crime you're gonna do time, period. Cops can arrest all the criminals on the street, but if the judges and current Liberal system puts them basically right back out what good is it?

You have the makings of a Toronto Star reporter when describing a suspect as, ....oh, a male between 20 and 25 yrs, about 6 ft. tall, 175 lbs, wearing a certain clothing....while the reader is saying "yes, yes, is there anything else you'd like to add to that description?"
First, the culprits are described by as "young men".... then you went a step further with your "homicidal thugs" condemnation. Better, but you still haven't zeroed in yet.
