Sealing the Deal
A step in the right direction...
-- OTTAWA -- Conservative leader Stephen Harper promised to scrap Canada’s young offenders law and replace it with a tougher version under which youth who commit serious violent crimes will no longer be able to keep their names out of the news.No more "free lunch" for teenage thugs.
The new law would impose automatic, stiffer sentences for people 14 years of age or over who are convicted of serious violent crimes, such as murder or manslaughter. Upon conviction, the names of these individuals would be made public.
It's a start.

I believe a series of things needs to be done with these youths and this is one of them. Effective programs with real goals and discipline would be nice as well.
Here's a dangerous step in the wrong direction. Remember Boob Rae was instrumental in forming the coalition that wreaked havoc in Ontario.
I think some how if these are repeat offenders the parents should be punished as well. Make parents realise they are responsible for their kids.
The Libs..Jennings in particular,already bashing this.Just goes to the PM pointing out that the Libs are soft on crime.
What an absolute mess the release of Lib.platform was,compared to the clear,concise,speech by PMSH made.
And,to anon in Wpg...I hear ya! I live not too far out,and we,in rural SE Man.tend to get some of the thugs out our way,with lots of B&E's,etc...you can keep them in Wpg..we don't want them out here!

Put 'em all in the Harper Youth. They already have the right attitude for the Stevetorian Guard.
Damn right. It's past due time that society be protected from criminals, and not the other way around. At 14 they know the difference between right or wrong. Under Liberals they'd get away from anything so they dont fear consequence.
