I do agree with helping low income families. In fact we should just raise the personal exemption amount so they don't pay the money in taxes and then have to wait to see if they get it back. Just let people keep their money. Its easier and you don't have to pay for the administration.

@ nonny: the poor get GST rebates based on their income. In essence they are exempt up to a certain income.
However you are right, consumption taxes for the most part are regressive taxes.
However by reducing the GST, as you say, Harper helps them even more... so why not vote Harper??? You're kind of making the argument for me.
