Media bias? Whaddaya mean?

Apparently, according to CTV's Robert Fife on the Thursday night news... Stephen Harper doesn't just refute an argument - he...

"...firebombs their credibility."
No word yet, on whether he does this in concert with his "Conservative Warlords."

The media tried really, really, really hard not to show their bias in the first 12 days of this campaign, but the couldn't hold it, especially given that they see that the poll numbers are going up.

Expect them to throw their non-biased masks in the garbage; deal with the "problem" of Harper being ahead in the polls by negative reporting; searching out the smallest comment made by anyone anywhere connected with the Tory Campaign and work hard to make a passing remark into a three day story.

And when something big comes along - like the Ritz comment - turn that into a brainwashing 2 week story where you basically tell Canadians how they should be thinking.

"Back-to-back gaffes may keep Tories on the defence" - CTV Sept 19, 2008

==========================

Rightly or wrongly many people are saying that the MSM is biased towards the Liberals. With a totally subjective headline like the one above, CTV does little to disuade that notion. By stating it as fact when it is an assertion, the MSM unwittingly creates this self-fulfilling perception that their headline is true.

I wish that the MSM would stop trying to create the news by reporting facts instead of airing their opinions.

I suspect that they there is a certain effect they are hoping to generate by posting a headline like that.

Well, I wrote in to their news department to tell them as much, as well as writing in the comments section of that headline. Of course, it probably won't be printed or a response received for my e-mail. I just wanted them to know that people are going to call them on their bullshit when they try to pass off assertions and opinions as news.

the constant use of loaded language by fife in particular and ctv in general... makes them one of the worst offenders.

steffi doesn't even need his pathetic attempts to go negative... ctv will do it for him.

As well as ill-hidden sarcasm from Liberal trolls masquerading as Tories.

CTV doesn't care. I was reading Craig Oliver's "Election Blog", if you read the comments, the majority of them are calling CTV and their "reporters" out on their bias.
When comments are allowed at the end of one of their articles, the comments are much the same - cut the crap and just report the news, stop covering for the Liberals.
It would appear that CTV does not respond well to those who watch/read them, and will continue on their merry path.

"dwt says... cut the crap and just report the news"

ctv sounds about as responsive as the so-called "ombudsman" at cbc... who, when he's not ignoring you, apparently has a pre-programmed kneejerk response to just about every conceivable situation.

all agitprop... all the time... and with cbc, we're actually paying them to do it.
