The Desertification of Deseronto

Apparently... aboriginal plans to turn the Town of Deseronto into a rough approximation of the Palestinian West Bank... are proceeding apace...
Hastings County halted plans Wednesday to repair a Deseronto seniors home, due to uncertainty over the Culbertson Tract land claim. A report to the committee Wednesday stated a protest disrupted a site meeting the county held at the Deseronto home on March 31 for contractors interested in bidding on repair work.

County Chief Administrative Officer Jim Pine, although not at the meeting himself, told The Intelligencer there were about 12 protesters. There was some shouting and police had to be called.

Potential development of Culbertson Tract land has sparked several demonstrations in the Deseronto area over the past year, led by natives who are calling for prompt return of the land.
If you're looking for dirt-cheap real-estate... I don't think you'll be able to do any better than right here. We're talking ultimate "buyers market."

Of course, as Mr. Pine points out, this little disruption isn't gonna improve the lives of local seniors.
He said he hopes the protesters will understand the county is only trying to improve the quality of life for its tenants.

"All we're trying to do is make some folks lives better," he said. "It's as simple as that."
I guess aboriginal folks don't get old.
