The first ten days... you couldn't...
...get the big orange machine to take a breath between sentences... but suddenly, it's all darkness & crickets...
-- Charles Adler ,QMI Agency -- "Did the public not have a right to know? If you’re asking voters to sign up for four years, are you obliged to tell them you may very well be signing off much sooner than that?"Let's face facts... the NDP (as a political entity) didn't make a breakthrough this election... it was all down to one man. Without Jack Layton, they would have ended up in the basement... yet again.
So, the question is... if Jack and his select inner-circle knew he was gonna be checking out very shortly after the votes were counted... should they have concealed that fact from the Canadian people?
"Memo to the NDP: Canadian taxpayers spent millions of dollars on a funeral your party turned into an infomercial. We can’t bill you for it. But you owe Canada honest answers about the final days of Saint Jack."So, hey guys... what about it?
It's a really simple question. Olivia? Thomas? Libby?
Anyone?

I am betting the darkness and crickets continue.
Like Mr. Adler said - "The NDP never ceases to lecture the governments of the day about ethics, accountability and transparency. They owe it to the country to be honest, ethical, accountable and transparent about life and death."

It is easy to be all of those things to everyone when you are on the campaign trail. And it is real easy to be those things when you *NEVER* have to try and put them in practice as a governing party. For the NDP, it has been real, REAL easy. Here is to hoping they keep taking it easy. :D

given some of the, uh... freethinkers... they have over there in dipper-land... i'm a little surprised they haven't tried blaming it on dick cheney... or the mossad.

Please, this is really unfair. How can you expect honesty and concern for anyone but himself from someone who would have his wife cover for his midnight, naked, therapeutic massage?
The next shock for his supporters will be when his Will is probated and those people discover that again, he did not live the life of a simple man.
I think a lot of people will be surprised.

"maryt says... people discover that again, he did not live the life of a simple man."
it's true... how will jack's target demographic react when they find out he was, eeek... a closet capitalist?
the left sure does enjoy all that personal mythology b.s.

The NDP in the ROC should ask Mulroney what happens when you try to get separatists on your side...
Quebecois, living or dead, would vote for Mayor McCheese if he promised them his special sauce.
