Pakistani government-in-waiting...
...goes with "Sergeant Shultz" defense...
Tribal leaders with links to militant groups say the four Arab men known as Abu Qasim, Abu Musa, Abu Hamza and Abu Haris were killed near a home and seminary of a Taliban militant leader with ties to al-Qaida.Hey... they can call it "Mr. Golden Sunshine" for all anyone here cares.
U.S. officials have not confirmed carrying out the alleged missile strike and the Pakistani military continues to refer to the incident as "explosions" from unknown causes.
The proof is in the DNA pudding.

I think the Yanks are FINALLY getting the point that for every dollar that goes to Pakistan to "fight" terrorism, no small part of it goes to the Taliban as "snake" money, i.e., if they need enemies to make money, then by Allah, we'll find the enemies (er, here's a spare $100 Mohammed, can you put on this black turban?).
A great article about how cozy the Pakistanis are with the Taliban:

well... the supreme irony here is the "muj", the forerunner of the taliban, were pretty much a joint creation of the cia and the isi... used to fight the russian occupation of afghanistan.
unfortunately, the u.s. underestimated the strength of the religious component here... the other-worldly "glue" that binds the pakistanis and the taliban together in this little adventure.
there is a component of the pakistani military and intel community that is still actively supporting their brothers-in-arms.
thus the necessity for cough, cough, unilateral action.

The article does point out the idea that the original American money went to the most radical leaders - and one of the reasons was to fight India:
Gen. Zia ul-Haq, funneled the bulk of the cash to the most religiously extreme guerrilla leaders. After the Soviet Union withdrew in 1989, Pakistani military and intelligence services kept on supporting Islamist militants, notably in the Muslim-majority Indian state of Kashmir, where they threw their support behind a local uprising
Geeze, add China and Russia and it looks like Europe, 1914...
