I'm from the (Quebec) government...

...I'm here to save you...

As of last year, parents no longer had the right to choose between courses in Catholic, Protestant or moral instruction.

The new curriculum covers a broad range of world religions, with particular emphasis on Quebec's religious heritage -- Catholicism, Protestantism, Judaism and aboriginal spirituality.

Not only that, but they don't have the right to pull their kids out of the mandatory all-religions-including-Islam-are-equal course that begins in Grade 1 and the Jesuits have to teach it.

Catholic boy chiming in.
We used to have fist and snowball fights with the protestant school next door.
It was all in good faith :)

as an ex-catholic cum atheist i would love to see a complete separation of church & state.

maybe put together a universal "history of religion" course... and leave it at that.

News-Flash folks parents in Quebec have lost the right to educate your children in the language of choice. If you do not have a yearly updated, government issued document proving you went to English school in Quebec you gotta educate them in French.

Seems the school records to prove that both my Hubby and I who were educated in English, Me in Montreal, Hubby in the Gatineau Hills, were lost in TWO separate fires. Tsk tsk, so many fires, so little water in Quebec.
