Whatever happened to... maybe they were drinking... or had written some bad cheques?
-- TORONTO -- One man is dead and another is in serious condition after separate shootings in the north and south ends of Toronto overnight.**********
The first began with a phone call to a 25-year-old man who was at a cafe near Yonge St. and Finch Ave. just before midnight, Toronto Police Staff-Sgt. David Vickers said.
About four hours later, a 21-year-old man was near the Rabba store at Front and Sherbourne Sts. when "somebody came up from behind and shot him several times," Vickers said.

I notice you use an asterisk at the end of the post but not always. Maybe it's to separate from the last line or maybe it's your own form of labelling.
If it's to separate, then another way is to go into the html and put the "double arrow" [lower right on the keyboard] and span inside it at the top and /span at the bottom in double arrows.
Then you leave a line between /span and your text.
