A Markham, Ont. man, Arif Adnan Syed, who rented a dozen luxury homes and turned them into rooming houses has been ordered to pay $36,000 in restitution to the landlords within 10 days or he'll be arrested and jailed for four months.
Not much of a penalty under the circumstances...
Syed's bank account statements also show total monthly deposits ranging from roughly $30,000 to $208,000 and total monthly withdrawals as high as $216,000 during the months he was leasing at least some of the luxury homes.
BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE:
Two people are facing a total of 19 charges after separate investigations netted 142 kilograms of crystal meth, cocaine, fentanyl and heroin with an estimated street value of more than $17 million.

Investigators began an investigation on November 15 which led to the arrest of 23-year-old Onyejebechi Ifesimeshone of Vaughan and 26-year-old Bayaan Abdalla Jadid of Edmonton.

More than 10 kg of cocaine were seized along with fentanyl and crystal meth.
