Dear Toronto Star... make sure you...

...don't dig too deep...
Franc Gabriel Paisley, 29, was found in his home with obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead. Police are saying this is an isolated incident.
Note that an "isolated incident" is policespeak for a targeted murder of a person with a history of violence. In other words, nobody in law enforcement fell off their chair when they heard somebody lit ol' Franc up.

Turning to Google one finds...
Franc Gabriel Paisley, 23, of no fixed address, is charged with a dozen firearms-related offences including possessing a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and possessing a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence.

Police were in the area because of a recent spate of shootings in the area, including Friday’s shootout between two groups on San Romanoway.
Note the careful use of "San Romanoway"... the name of the highrise development on the northeast corner of Jane and Finch.

You just have to know, or more to the point, be willing to decipher the code. I anxiously await the Red Star's obligatory follow-up puff piece on how Franc was "turning his life around."

RELATED: Continuing the tradition...

...of obscuring reality in the name of political correctness...
“At some point A FIREARM WAS PRODUCED and the deceased young man was shot,” said Det. Mike Carbone. Det. Carbone, however, would not comment on whether the boy’s death could have been accidental, saying only that police believe an “unlawful act” played a part in events.
Hmmm... if firearms cause crime... mine must be defective.
