Bright lights, big city...

-- TORONTO -- The slain man was found in a fourth-floor stairwell of the building, in a sometimes trouble-plagued Etobicoke highrise row west of Islington Ave. and northeast of Hwys. 401 and 427.

A police source said officers are often called to the area.

A Mississauga man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder last July after his ex-girlfriend, Ayan “Denise” Osman, 28, mother of their two young sons, was stabbed to death in a nearby Dixon Rd. building.

UPDATE: Shooting victim identified
Abdikadir Khan, 24, was found dead in an Etobicoke stairwell on March 20. Khan's death marks the city's 15th homicide of 2011.

Kera Freeland, 20, was last seen January 15, 2011 in the Lakeshore Boulevard West and Queens Avenue area and was reported missing in February.

According to media reports, Ms. Freeland moved from Vancouver to Toronto in December in order to work as an escort under the pseudonym “Chloe.”

A Parkdale man who feared being killed after he and four other mentally disabled victims were severely beaten by a masked stranger has died.

Toronto Police Det. John Thibodeau said George Wass collapsed in his Maynard Ave. roominghouse at 6:22 a.m. Monday — three days after he was brutally attacked.
