Hey, Quebec... if you do ever separate...

...would you mind taking British Columbia with you?

-- "A University of Victoria study recommends hiking alcohol prices in the province, while giving homeless people controlled access to free booze." --

SIDENOTE: Ever bought heroin?

Sure you have... if you're a Canadian taxpayer.
Three Vancouver heroin addicts have started getting their fix for free -- as the first participants in a government-sponsored study on the effects of controlling junkies' supply.

As participants in the new North American Opiate Medication Initiative, the three got their first taxpayer-funded fix on Monday.

Neo - if you read the comments, it looks as if Ontario is already doing just that with 'wet' shelters.

Right, and I'll blame your inbred trog Ontario ass for all the bullshit coming out of the U of T, Carleton, York and of course, Red Toronto.

The problem's the places that voted NDP provincially and Grit and Dipper federally, Neo. And Whistler.

The VAST majority of the interior's actually small-c and big-C conservative.

I wondered when someone would get around to suggesting this, after all,the free needle program and shooting galleries have been such a raging success.

As I said on another site, sometimes a higher education is wasted.

At the moment homeless people in Victoria get their booze by hassling shoppers outside the city's liquor stores. This proposal is obviously a ploy by our betters to cut down on curbside begging directed at themselves.

Well, Neo, BC is certainly "out-there", but let's not be too harsh.

I'd be OK with getting rid of UVic though, starting with the eggheads who did that study.

Let there be a free drugs and booze zone in every jurisdiction wherein those who go voluntarily as well as those who are swept up off the streets can have all the stuff their hearts desire. Call these places *Refuges* or *Asylums* or *Who Cares* to drive home the point that, if all the well-intended efforts of family and charity groups are rejected, the addict then must be left to his chosen fate. Let us address the issues and stop quibbling over details - especially those that lead nowhere.

Publicly-funded heroin? This gives new meaning to the expression, "opiate of the masses"...

They should use illegal suppliers and tax the sh*t out of them, like the rest of us. Don't forget the HST!

And in 10 year they or their families sue the snot out of the government for injecting them with a drug known to harm people.
