This, my friends, is why...

...we mock you...

-- MONTREAL -- It's a minor scrap that's opening old wounds from 160 years ago.

A Quebec sovereigntist association is demanding an apology for a tract published in 1849 by the Montreal Gazette that the group contends incited 1,500 anglophone Montrealers to burn down the city's parliament.

And iggowaffle is concerned that the war room is going over everything he has said or written in the past 30 yrs. At least those stmts are within our lifetime. How stupid are those separtists, going back 160 years for an apology. That makes them the laughing stock of the rest of canada.
I imagine almost every canadian has suffered some wrongdoing by some previous ancestor of a hundred years ago. How stupid can a sp interest group get.

We've been apologizing for every other minor sin of our ancestors... so why stop now?

Maybe Iggy will dig some ancestors out of the closet and write a pithy tome that ultimately unites Canada's two solitudes.

Think about it....high speed Bombardier trains linking Red Deer and Trois Riviers...James Bay hydro power lighting Oilsands mining operations....$7/day childcare coast to coast to coast!!!!

And nary a hurt feeling felt throughout the land.

*sigh*

Neo mentioned the "Scottish highland clearances".

Neo, who do you think is going to be independent first: Scotland or Quebec?

Bear in mind, however, that for all Quebec's faults, it isn't - like Scotland - wholly dependent on the federal government for 80% of it's GDP (source: Mark Steyn).

sure... quebec can leave... as soon as they rip up their passports, pay their share of the national debt... and hand back all the guns, tanks & planes.

I just wish Quebec will leave; be on their own see to their own devices, apologies. I am tired of the bloc that are casusing rifts to occur between quebec and the rest of canada.

Congratulations Neo. You actually put Gayle to sleep over at raffi's place. I didn't think it possible. Again, congrats.
