Who's Smarter than a 5th Grader?
All I know is... my kid could have done a better job answering that question...
So this morning, Mr. Dion was asked about the Conservative leader's comments. "Mr. Harper's reaction is shown how much this man has no class and no plan," Mr. Dion said on CBC Newsworld.Good grief.

UPDATE: Interesting take over at SDA...
"That outrage has less to do with what happened to Dion than it does the fact that Canadians just caught a glimpse of how this business operates, and they don't like it."**********
"It's a "gotcha" moment all right, but this time it's the media with their pants down. The restarts, the admission that ATV had first agreed to bury it before succumbing to sober second thought - that's too much information."
LAST WORD: "Dis question of da heconomy is bias..."
"...what about herconomy?"*

And yet AND YET this fool will receive +30% and deny a great PM a majourity. Foolish Canadians. If Dion gets in I and my family are going back to the US. And that's not idol words.
I watched th clip last night and my first amazed reaction was "he has no answer!" He obviously misunderstood the question (due to language barrier) the first time, but it seemed to me that he did get it eventually, but really did not know what to say, so instead launched into his campaign spiel about having meetings the first 30 days etc, without ever specifically saying what he would do differently than Harper if he were PM today! The spin now is that he didn't understand the question...I think not!
Do you forget that Dion has a hearing problem that makes it hard for him to hear in crowds.
What, it was a one on one?
Well then it was because the question was not clear.
What, his handler explained the question to him.
Well then..... I got nothing.
I would maybe give him a little bit of slack for misunderstanding the question the FIRST time, but he had the question explained and lobbed to him THREE FREAKING TIMES, and all the while, he was nodding, and saying, "yes, yes", and he STILL didn't have any sort of answer.
Dion has a hearing problem????? Why the hell doesn't he buy a hearing aid???? Get out of here, the man didn't know what to say, he has a plan to have a plan. I mean can you imagine him at a meeting of the G7? Who knows what he could get us into with this 'hearing problem' of his. No plan, not the man.

go back and look at the clip... at no point does dion claim he can't hear the question.
he claims he can't understand it. the deaf thing is after the fact liberal spin.
i think it's pretty obvious he just didn't know what to say.
no whiff of a plan... and he couldn't... (like any seasoned politician would normally do) even talk around it.
i wouldn't let him look after somebody else's cat... never mind run a country.

Yeah after watching the clip now a few times, I have to agre with you neo. He could not answer the question because he doesn't UNDERSTAND the economic situation.
This is a question Harper has been nailing all over the country since the beginning of the week. It was time someone from the media actually called Dion on his criticism.
What makes it worse is that Dion is given a second chance by CTV today and he still goes into the old monologue of Harper made the wrong choices instead of presenting evidence of where Harper went wrong and exactly what Dion would have done better/different.
As the CPC has learned from the last week, you can only go so far by pointing out the other guy's weaknesses. At some point you do have to point out your own strengths.
@ nonny: Indeed. Palin specifically made it clear she did not want to restart the cold war or use nuclear weapons during the multiple times she has been interrogated. Some criticism of her is justified BUT making up stuff is not. I would like to have seen Obama get the same interrogation by the media months ago.

lamgmann... don't bother replying to nonny's trolls... he doesn't get to play here any more.
he gets his own special post.

Ok nonny, lets have a go shall we.
Exactly. Dion is even more incompetent than Palin was during that single interview you post, cut and pasted as it was.
Why? Because Dion has had a whole campaign to say what he would have done differently with the surplus and now the credit crisis. Would he have not put money into reducing Health Care waiting lists for example? The military? Or would he have just accrued it into some big pot like a tin-pot dictator?
The only smart thing Dion has said, is that income taxes would have been a better reduction than the GST. As an economist, yes from a productivity point of view he is right (in fact if productivity was a significant concern we'd reduce income taxes to almost 0 and largely from upper bracket earners). However what Harper said to Paul Martin is very true - the GST is a recessive tax that harms no income and low income Canadians. In fact Harper's cut has given people making ZERO to $15000 dollars in Canada a total subsidy of almost 1 billion dollars. The 1% income tax (which Harper also got around to) would only have given less than half a billion. I cannot think of an instance where a government in this country gave so much to the poor. You socialist heads are always saying that poverty reduction and economic equality is worth more than economic prosperity and productivity (mistakenly thinking to yourselves that the latter does nothing for the poor when in fact it does the most).
In terms of the credit crisis, on the National he goes off about increasing account insurance. When he is reminded that Canadian savings are well protected by insurance and staggered accounts he draws a blank. The real problem in Canada is not bank failure but the decreasing availability of credit, which the CPC is trying to address.
Now I'm not naive. If Dion was in charge it is likely the Liberals would have done almost identical things that the Conservatives have done from a fiscal point of view over the last few years. The reason is for the most part government ministries are run by high level bureaucrats who don't change much. Stephane Dion wrote a paper on that, he of all people knows it.
Now Dion proposes a carbon tax. As we are finding out from countries that have them, they have done little to reduce carbon emissions, if any. In fact as I point out on my blog using peer reviewed literature, that his plan will likely result in increased Canadian emissions. Canada doesn't have the Kyoto luxury of being given a huge write-off of their emissions. Moreover Jack Mintz the co-writer of the silly Green plan, as I show on my blog, doesn't even think it will work to reduce emissions but he thinks the CPC plan will!
Whoops missed your delete. Gotcha. Anyway handed his rear to him one last time.
Its like arguing with a religious delusion.
