So it looks like it's "go time"

-- OTTAWA -- Three federal by-elections in early September promise to stir up Canada's stagnant political waters, serving as a litmus test for a possible general election this autumn.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to call the by-elections this week in the Montreal-area ridings of Westmount-Ville Marie and St. Lambert and the southwestern Ontario riding of Guelph.

“They are all opposition-held ridings and anything less than two Liberal victories will be a huge defeat for St├ęphane Dion's Liberals,” said Tory spokesman Ryan Sparrow.

westmount is a no-brainer, especially with marc garneau as candidate. the libs won by a good margin in guelph last time with 30% going to ndp and green candidates. if valeriote can pull a little of that support his way, looks pretty safe for the libs.

st lambert elected a bloc MP with the libs in at 2nd.

harper could easily be shut out of all 3. sparrow is trying to spin it but the reality is, 2 lib wins and zilch for the CPoC would be a disaster for harper.

Liberals stole tens of millions of dollars the last time they were in power and promise to steal more for their Quebec ridings especially, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they win.

the simple fact is... with democracy... you get exactly the kind of government you deserve.

i mean, look at what happened to the sheeple in the gta.

my advice... get out and vote.
