Maybe pampering...

All of society's whiners and miscreants... isn't really such a great idea after all...

Focusing on success is important because willpower can grow in the long term.

Like a muscle, willpower seems to become stronger with use. The idea of exercising willpower is seen in military boot camp, where recruits are trained to overcome one challenge after another.
Unlike, say... providing junkies with a comfortable venue to shoot poison into their veins.
Whatever the explanation, consistently doing any activity that requires self-control seems to increase willpower — and the ability to resist impulses and delay gratification is highly associated with success in life.
Oh, Doc... say it isn't so.

This passes for scholarship?

"The brain has a limited capacity for self-regulation, so exerting willpower in one area often leads to backsliding in others.... The brain’s store of willpower is depleted when people control their thoughts, feelings or impulses, or when they modify their behavior in pursuit of goals."

Betcha he thinks life is a zero-sum game...

Re Kathy's blog entry: So a group aids children forced into marrage and this is bad, the cop who brougth the issue to the public attention gets fired for exposing the missing girls.

Jebus, behold the leftards. They'd rather let 3000 little girls disappear than admit Islam and it's culture are a problem. Well I've been saying for months women and children are desposable commodies under Socialism and England has proven me correct.

God save us from these idiots.
