Federal government breathes sigh of relief...

...as native peoples offer to contribute corporate expertise...
The head of the Assembly of First Nations signalled a renewed willingness to work with the feds on major resource development projects.
I'm just happy that Canada's aboriginal communities have solved all those other pesky little problems that were stopping their communities from assuming these larger responsibilities.

FROM THE COMMENTS: Aboriginal corruption...

...it's pretty much a cliche...
"It is alleged the grand chief used $10,000 of the group’s money on a Minnesota gambling excursion and a trip to an amusement park in August and September. That scandal tainted the lobby group and the more it spread, the worse it got."
Yup... I'm shocked...
-- WINNIPEG -- A Manitoba native group misspent more than $6 million in federal health-care funds on exotic trips and unjustified payments to the organization's CEO, a federal audit has revealed.
Of course, if you audit aboriginal peoples... it just means you're a racist.

Here's a parenting tip... if your kid has a way cool street name, maybe you're not gonna need that RESP.

NOTE:

Just noticed the original article mentioned three of the names twice... so I've erased the dupes. Not sure why ol' Shakeil doesn't have a nickname... maybe he helped an old lady cross the street and had his cool name rescinded.

A cautionary tale from the guy...

...who brought you My Lai & Abu Ghraib... let's face it, this guy is a liberal's wet dream come true...
It doesn't take much to fire up Hersh, the investigative journalist who has been the nemesis of US presidents since the 1960s and who was once described by the Republican party as "the closest thing American journalism has to a terrorist".
Of course, he's less celebrated when he turns his critical eye a little to the left...
"The Obama administration lies systematically," he claims, "Yet none of the leviathans of American media, the TV networks or big print titles, challenge him."

"It's pathetic, they are more than obsequious, they are afraid to pick on this guy [Obama]," he declares in an interview with the Guardian.
He's not afraid to get into specifics...
On the subject of the Navy Seal raid that supposedly resulted in the death of the Al-Qaeda terror leader, Hersh remarked, “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true.”

Hersh added that the Obama administration habitually lies but they continue to do so because the press allows them to get away with it.
I miss real journalism.

Actually, scrub that... my first question is, "What sort of new-age hippie throwback would... oh, wait..."
Umbilical cord non-severance, popular with early western European settlers in America, was revived in the 1980s by yoga practitioners exploring natural birth.
Ah, yes... the wisdom of the east. Another progressive practice from the poster-continent for appalling rates of infant mortality.

FROM THE COMMENTS:
"I would suggest keeping the child attached through the teen years. Parents would have no problem knowing where their kids are. It would also stem the tide of rising teen pregnancy. This in turn would save the tax paying public a great deal of money supporting unwed mothers on the dole."

Until recently, Rolf Dinsdale was a member of the punk rock band Shit From Hell, along with longtime Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella. The band's songs include “Horny Single Mom” and “Jesus Got Wood.” The video for the latter features a writhing woman and the lyrics, “Baby you're going to get impaled.”
Now, don't you read anything scurrilous into this, folks... ol' Rolf has an explanation for all that as well...
Dinsdale says the songs show his sense of humour and he considers his material pro-Christian. Jesus Got Wood is a Christian anthem."
Rolf, Rolf, settle down... this is Canada, you can piss all over Christianity til the cows come home. The question you should be asking is... "Honey, does this hat make my head look stupid?"

I look forward to seeing Justin Trudeau signing your nomination papers. Maybe JT can join you in a few verses of Jesus Got Wood.

A member of the Toronto 18 terror group that planned attacks on Canadian targets nearly a decade ago has died while fighting in Syria, CTV News has confirmed.

Ali Mohamed Dirie served two years in prison for his role in the plot to blow up the Parliament buildings and other landmarks, assassinate the prime minister and kidnap politicians.
What... 2 whole years and he was out there beheading again?

C'mon Ali... you promised.
When he appeared before a parole hearing in 2010, Dirie said he was a changed man, and no longer advocated violence to achieve political goals.
Well, heck... maybe he was just on vacation.

Or maybe the National Parole Board needs a kick in the ass.

LAST WORD: Promises, promises
In the 2008 campaign, Mr. Obama often told voters that he would lower premiums by $2,500 a year per family “by the end of my first term as president.”

That has not happened, although the White House says the law has slowed the growth of premiums.
Hmmm... try clicking on the picture above for an actual case of "slow growth."

So You Think You Can Think

No wonder Al-Shabaab thinks we're ripe for the picking...
In a body-popping bid for wider understanding, scientists from Australia to the Netherlands are making interpretive dance videos based on their Ph.D. dissertations. To make an esoteric thesis come alive, they leap, swoon, spin and krump.

The performances -- all captured on video and posted online -- belong to an annual international competition called "Dance Your Ph.D," which for five years has been turning scientific obsessions into performance art. To qualify, the author of the Ph.D. dissertation must perform in the dance. Typically, the scientists submit the videos after being awarded their Ph.D.s.
And like any contemporary kindergarten class... everybody is a winner.
"It makes you think in a different way," said Matt Kent who is among the contest judges. "Even if I hate the performance, I love the idea that they are trying."

The Redistribution (for some) Cometh

Isn't a man who will have 24/7 bodyguards for the rest of his life, a man who will be taken directly to the front of every conceivable waiting line... isn't such a man the very definition of the despicable 1 percent?
redistributing wealth
$621 billion is a pretty eye-glazing number. Most readers will find it easier to think about how this number translates to a typical American family—the very family candidate Obama promised would see $2,500 in annual savings as far as the eye could see.

Between 2014 and 2022, the increase in national health spending (which the Medicare actuaries specifically attribute to the law) amounts to $7,450 per family of 4.

The Federal Reserve also released its latest weekly accounting sheet indicating that it had already accumulated more Treasuries and MBSs than the total value of the publicly held U.S. government debt amassed by all U.S. presidents from George Washington though Bill Clinton.

Since the beginning of September 2008, in fact, the Fed's ownership of Treasury securities and MBSs has increased seven fold.
Because that's what socialists do...
"In 1968, when Trudeau went from rich, socialist professor who had never held a real job in his life to prime minister, Canada’s national debt was a modest $11.3 billion; the federal deficit was zero."

"When Trudeau left office in 1984, the debt had mushroomed to $128 billion; the deficit to $25 billion annually."

Toronto police are investigating after two people were wounded in a shooting early Monday morning.

The shooting occurred near Lawrence and Morningside avenues in Scarborough, and officers are working to narrow down the exact location, police said.

A man in his 30s has died of his injuries after being shot in the chest in the Queen and Parliament streets area Monday evening, Toronto police say.

Police say the 31-year-old man was ambushed as he waited for an elevator on the fourth floor of an apartment complex at 285 Shuter Street.

Det. Sgt. Dean Burks said the victim – whom he wouldn’t immediately identify – was known to police.
No pithy commentary from Premier Wynne and no announcement of when OCAP will be parading for this man's unfortunate death.

all that buzz
Watching Freeland talk, it’s easy to see why Trudeau finds her impressive. She has all the latest buzzwords and jargon. In a 60-second interview last week, she used the phrase “tipping point” four times. She loves talking about “millennials.”

She’s not a policy adviser. She’s a pundit. She doesn’t know a lot about economics, or about Canada.

But to Trudeau, she’s got something more important: The unwavering loyalty of her former Media Party colleagues.
Rumour has it, there is already fierce jockeying among Trudeau disciples for the coveted post of "Minister of Marijuana."

PC Party of Ontario officially dead

And, of course, no more astrophysics, as the term "black hole" has now been officially erased from the lexicon...
-- TORONTO -- Ontario Progressive Conservatives have issued an apology for calling the Liberal Scarborough subway plan a “train wreck” on the same day that at least six people died in a bus-train crash in Ottawa.
It's official... when you start to fall over yourselves about politically correct silliness like this, it's time to disband the whole effete organisation.

I just about threw up when I heard Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson sombrely announcing that the whole city was in mourning for these people... even before bodies had been pulled from the wreckage. It ranks right up there with politicians pulling on various articles of religious apparel to suck up to whatever religious institution they are visiting that day.

It doesn't actually fool anyone, does it?

UPDATE: It can't actually be grief...

...I guess it's just a way to advertise your moral superiority...
Lining both sides of the tracks, the derailed Via train serving as a backdrop, supporters lit candles, hugged each other and prayed for the six killed and more than 30 injured when the double-decker OC Transpo bus struck the train.

Most of those in attendance didn't know anyone on the ill-fated bus, but were in shock that something so tragic could happen so close to home.
And you get to see yourself on TV.

He's clarified his position on drugs...

...is this Justin Trudeau's next policy triumph?
The Södertörn District Court has now acquitted the 65-year old in a judgement which stated that it "may be proven that the man exposed himself and masturbated on this occasion".

However, the court added that no offence had been committed as the masturbating man was not pleasuring himself towards a specific person.

When asked if it was now acceptable to masturbate in public if you don't direct it towards a specific individual the prosecutor said it was "okay."
You think I'm kidding here? Think again.
Meanwhile, the workshops where Liberals were meant to hammer out 135 or so policy resolutions were all but deserted. The 18 resolutions before the international affairs workshop were summarily dealt with in 30 minutes, with minimal debate. Along the corridor in the social justice workshop, delegates voted to lower the age of consent for anal sex and legalize marijuana.
As one pundit put it...
"Umm . . . is discussing allowing teenagers to bugger each other really the business of the Liberal Party?"
You'd be surprised what those frisky Liberals do behind closed doors.

Apparently, Justin Trudeau thinks mummy...

-- OTTAWA -- Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau declined to make a connection between his marijuana policy and his mother's relationship with the drug, heavy use of which she has said contributed to her own experiences with mental illness.

"Marijuana can trigger psychosis," she said. "Every time I was hospitalized it was preceded by heavy use of marijuana."
Every time, Maggie?

Dominic Parker, 45, was stabbed several times while he was at the Rotana Cafe in the Danforth-Coxwell Aves. area around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Nabil Huruy was initially charged with attempted murder, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon. Charges were upgraded on Monday to first-degree murder.
