Taser 0 -- Glock 1

Well... I hope the lunatic left is happy...

A 26-year-old knife-wielding man was shot and killed by police in Winnipeg after they failed to subdue him with a Taser, officials say. Police responded to calls of a possible disturbance around 5:15 Saturday morning in the 700 block of Simcoe Street in the west part of the city.

When officers arrived, they confronted a man brandishing a knife, said police spokeswoman Const. Jacqueline Chaput. She said police requested that he put down his weapon.

"Information of course is preliminary, but it does appear he did not comply with the request, the electronic control device was deployed, that didn't work and they had to escalate to a higher level of force."

WELCOME, YET AGAIN, READERS OF CANADIAN CYNIC

A little background on my biggest fan...

...and his oh-so progressive pals.

It's hard to say what I admire most about the Cynic... his multi-cultural credentials...

Or his obsessive dedication to feminist causes...

His Liblogs brothers and sisters must be so proud!

good for the cops . . . just saved us a whole lot of court time and appeal after appeal for some druggy thief skank.

The lawyers get rich, the skanks are set free to rob innocent people, except this time justice is served up front.

goes to show wht I've been saying since the whole tazer debate began... there may be a certain percent of tazer victums who have to go to hospital or die...but a hell of a lot more gun shot victums show up there or in the morgue...

so yeah!!! you get out there anti tazer people and ban away... (note sarcasim)

Anyone watching the Robert Zacanski video from the Vancouver Int Airport can clearly see the 4 RCMP officers who know CPR standing around after the on brave officer sat on the back of his neck and pinned the poor mans chest and neck to the cement floor while he was helpless from the result of the tazer attack...

Just how that officer or any of the others wasn't charged with manslaughter is an example of the Liberal justice system in action...

the leftosphere seem to overlook that cops aren't just running around tasering folks randomly.

what do all the taserees have in common?

they all did something criminal... or frightened bystanders sufficiently with their behaviour.... to cause someone to call for police assistance.

take away tasers... you're gonna see a lot more casualties.

Anon perhaps he should of put the chair he was throwing around down and did as he was directed? If anyone is at fault it's the Airport not the cops. Alas the leftards love to hate authority figures so, they most of spent their youth in da "Principle's Office".

Again with the love of the tasers, Neo. I thought you were all tired of talking about tasers in the other thread, (Another One Bites The Dust) and only wanted to talk about CC, and his profanity..

The heading is wrong also, I believe, the facts being over the last few years there may have been more taser related deaths at the hands of the police than firearm related (at least in Canada).

Rose says "Anon perhaps he should of put the chair he was throwing around down and did as he was directed? "

Perhaps the police should learn how to negotiate with people who are hostile and angry, rather than simply shoot them with a potentially life threatening weapon.

Simple question Neo. Before tasers were in use how many people were shot by police?

nonny-mouse from thunder bay says... Again with the love of the tasers, Neo"

nonny... again with the love of dangerous criminals.

see, my socialist friend... he wasn't simply "hostile and angry"... he was carrying a, whaddayacallit, oh, you know... yeah, that's it... a deadly weapon.

hey... say hi to cc for me.

"nonny asks... Before tasers were in use how many people were shot by police?"

i'm gonna guess... a whole lot more than 4 per year.

here's a handy tip for all the criminally inclined... you attack... or pull a weapon on a cop... you're a potential organ donor.

that's simple enough for even a junkie to remember, right?

say, nonny... one last, small point here... i'm guessing this guy, or more precisely, his family and friends... are actually lamenting that the taser didn't bring him down.

'cos those not-so-forgiving rounds of .40 calibre smith & wesson changed his horoscope for keeps, didn't they?

oh, yeah... here's a statistic for you...

"Since 1961, there have been 128 police officers killed in the line of duty (an average of almost 3 per year)."

Statistics Canada – Catalogue no. 85-002, Vol. 27, no. 8

how many of those officers died because they didn't pull the trigger fast enough?

I guess my last comment got lost somewhere.

Neo says "how many of those officers died because they didn't pull the trigger fast enough? "

How many people have died from Tasers because the police were to quick to pull the trigger?

Neo says "nonny... again with the love of dangerous criminals."

No. You really have to learn to cut and paste people's quotes, otherwise you are being dishonest not only with those you debate, but also with those who support you. Changing a person's quotes suggests you figure your supporters are not intelligent enough to follow your arguments.

I have never expressed a love of criminals, but I have a great respect for the Laws of Canada.

Neo says ""Since 1961, there have been 128 police officers killed in the line of duty (an average of almost 3 per year)."

Amnesty International says that there have been 17 taser related deaths between 2001 and 2007. So what is your point?

You claim that if police did not have tasers, then they would be forced to shoot more people. I would expect you to be able to back up your claim, perhaps by showing a drop in the number of people each year shot by police.

"nonny asks... So what is your point?"

trust me, my che-lickin' friend... anybody who is willing to draw some sort of moral equivalence between the deaths of police officers in the line of duty... and people resisting arrest... is not gonna get the point.

and now that you mention it... where was it that you cut and pasted my love of tasers from? i guess i missed that.

but hey... c'mon back and try break your previous record of, what was it... two dozen nonsense trolls at that other post?

make sure to include an assertion referring to your superiority each time... otherwise nobody will recognise how smart you really are.

i know you can do it.

i've seen it.

Neo says "and now that you mention it... where was it that you cut and pasted my love of tasers from? i guess i missed that."

When you use a direct quote, you use the quotation marks to show it is a direct quote. When you have an opinion, or are suggesting what you think is the point of view of another person, then you don't use quotes. I never used quotes on the love of taser because it was an inference based on your support of people who have died or been injured from tasers attacks.

Neo says "but hey... c'mon back and try break your previous record of, what was it... two dozen nonsense trolls at that other post?"

You mean the comments at 'Another one Bites the Dust?". IIRC it was you that kept trying to turn the debate into a flaming war, and a discussion on the evils of Cynic.

You never did answer all my questions or provide any type of proof to back up your POV.

Neo says "make sure to include an assertion referring to your superiority each time... otherwise nobody will recognise how smart you really are."

I have never made any reference to how smart I am, but there are things that one learns in school that are basic to language, and to research. Correct use of punctuation is one (I am far from perfect in this regard myself) and the other is being able to back up what you say with proof. As you claimed my link was wrong, it was up to you to provide a new link to your source, which you refused to do.

"nonny huffs... You never did answer all my questions"

you think that's what i'm here for ... to answer all your silly ass questions?

that'd be a bit of a mugs game, wouldn't it?

say, i'm curious... since you bring it up... how many of the 59 comments did you contribute to that other post anyway?

you think doing the same thing here is gonna do what... make me beg for mercy?

i'll let people make their own judgements about your allegations.

but me... i'm just not buyin'.

c'mon, baby... rev it up.

neo con: From the Charter :
"7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice."

so what you're saying is that chair wielding + death = justice ?
or some similar equation ? I'd like you to explain that one.

I think the practice has been to "tase first and ask questions later". That's OK if you don't kill anyone.

Also, Rose: maybe it's the airport's fault they left a chair lying around, right ?

"anon, who has cracked the neo-con code, surmises... chair wielding + death = justice ?"

why... that's... that's... sheer freakin' genius.

obviously, nothing can stand in the way of your frighteningly gargantuan intellectual powers.
