Toronto police have confirmed that the discovery of a woman’s body in the city’s east end Saturday morning is being investigated as a homicide.**********
Police received a call just after 7:30 a.m. reporting a body lying in an alley at the back of a high-rise apartment building on Sherbourne St., near Dundas St. E.
Police said there were obvious signs of trauma to the body, but would not divulge more details until the results of a post-mortem are returned.

Just before 4 a.m. on Saturday, a man was shot in the thigh in the Queen Street West and Soho Street area after a group of men got into an altercation. Toronto police spokesperson Const. Tony Vella told CTV.ca that the victim went to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is still at large, but seven people were detained and questioned by police.*
Not long after the shooting, a man was slashed with a broken bottle outside an after-hours club near St. Clair Avenue West and Blackthorn Avenue. The victim is in hospital with serious injuries.
And just before 7 a.m. Saturday, police arrested four men at gun point on the Gardiner Expressway after pulling over a car for travelling at high speeds. A handgun was found in the car, which was impounded.
