No compromise from Mohawks
Sorry, Deseronto... aboriginals demand the Crown clear existing owners off the land....
Mohawk officials were told the government will not buy land from non-natives to ensure the Culbertson Tract -- a 923-acre parcel of land which the government agrees was never surrendered -- is returned to native control.Apparently, though... that's not good enough.
Instead, the government will offer money to allow the band to purchase tract properties if their owners willingly put them up for sale. The government is prepared to offer additional money as compensation for any land that can't ultimately be returned, Strahl said.
Get ready for Caledonia... Part II.

yeah and what are they gonna do with the land once they get it? Run it into the ground like every other indian territory? Yeah this sounds like a worthwhile fight. Why not try getting a job and contributing to the country rather than being a parasite on the ass of it????

you're just not gettin' it, my friend.
why be a canadian citizen... when you can be a mohawk warrior.

Actual fact is that the land was surrendered, people bought parcels of it and live on it, those are the facts on the ground.
The paperwork not being in order is irrelevant. 'Aboriginals' have no real claim.
My land and home can be expropriated so can thiers. Or are they more equal?

So, around 200 years ago, one of their own, John Culbertson swindles the land from them (the patent), and then sells it off, and this is somehow our fault? I say tell them to pound salt, and go back to New York, from whence they originally came.
duh...no intelligent life here...circle the wagons boys...yeeehaaw!
