-- Jan. 1 (Bloomberg) -- A U.S. diplomat and a Sudanese national were shot and killed in Khartoum, Sudan's capital, a spokesman for the U.S. embassy said.I've got an idea. Maybe we could get Jack and Olivia to do a little reconnoitering over there... before we actually put any "ass in the grass".
The American, who worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development, was wounded in the shooting this morning and died in the afternoon.
Sudan's foreign ministry said the diplomat was shot five times, in the hand, shoulder and belly, the Associated Press reported. The Sudanese man was his driver, the AP said.
The four-year-old conflict in Sudan's Darfur region, west of the capital, has triggered the deaths of more than 200,000 people and driven 2.2 million from their homes, according to the United Nations.C'mon Jacko, you old smoothie... they're gonna love you over there.
